Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #3 is Up

I'd imagine that the stormtrooper armour gives +x armour too, but they just didn't include it in the minis stat listing
Gary has posted some corrections on the Wizards board - Solo would get +2 Fort Defense and +2 Threshold for wearing the stormtrooper armour. I don't know whether this would be higher if he had the proficiency, or whether the proficiency removes (some of) the penalty to Ref Defense.

And what’s with no more iterative attacks?

Is Threshold equal to your Ref?

And you get half your character level (rounded down) as bonus damage on melee and ranged attacks (see Han's stats)?

Rather equal to Fortitude.

Yeah. It seems so.

And I have one idea, that striked me right now. What if the Defense progression is the same as attack progression. It would made sense (because lower progression would prefere the attacker and higher would prefer the defender).

Than it might be like this:
Level - Poor/Medium/Fast Defense Progression
=============================
1st - +0/+1/+2
2nd - +1/+2/+3
3rd - +1/+3/+4
4th - +2/+3/+5
5th - +2/+4/+6
6th - +3/+5/+7
7th - +3/+6/+8
8th - +4/+6/+9
9th - +4/+7/+10
10th - +5/+8/+11

Now... let's see if it can be the case...
Death Star Trooper
nonheroic 3 - probably all three poor
soldier 1 - reflex fast, fortitude fast, will poor
defenses striped-off ability bonuses and "take 10"

Ref 3 (+1 non, +2 soldier) Check
Fort 3 (+1 non, +2 soldier) Check
Will 1 (+1 non, +0 soldier) Check

Well, it could be just coincidence...

Chalkazza
scout 1st - probably fast ref, mediocre fort, poor will

Ref 3 (+2) not Check
Fort 2 (+1) not Check
Will 1 (+0) not Check

Why? Are we missing some +1 to all Defenses Wookie ability? Talent? Might be...

Jensaarai Defender
Jedi 5/soldier 3
soldier 3 - reflex fast, fortitude fast, will poor (already postulated)
Jedi 5 - all fast?

Ref 13 (+4 soldier; +6 Jedi) not Check
Fort 10 (+4 soldier; +6 Jedi) Check
Will 9 (+1 soldier; +6 Jedi) not Check

Ok. Again I miss something. But what do you thing? Does it sound probable at least?

Maybe the fast progression is even faster /or +1 higher start/ - see the Wookie. Anybody able to improve the idea?

I've commented on your question on the other thread too, but I'll pop it here as well anyway.

Getting rid of iterative attacks is a great way of simplifying the system, while keeping playability high (it has been used in SpyCraft for quite a while now to great success). Plus iterative attacks worked against mobile, dynamic combat in a couple of ways. Firstly once you've got an iterative attack it encourages players to start standing still and slugging things out. Secondly, higher level characters get discommoded more by tripping etc than lower level characters (since losing their full attack can dramatically reduce their damage output). It also dramatically reduces the chance of PCs getting killed in one round at high levels if they can only be shot once a round rather than four times (for instance).

Threshold appears to be equal to your Fort defence (so far)

Bonus damage... difficult to say. Han is only getting +4 with the stormtrooper rifle, so perhaps it is a side effect of his weapon focus(pistols)? The Jensaarai defender gets +6 damage with his lightsabre but with +3 from his strength (+4 for 2H use?) that leaves an extra +2 for the 8th level character... difficult to parse out what is happening here at the moment!

Another wild guess... what if the "half of the level" bonus applies to just all dice rolls? And even to the Defenses (as they are acutally Dice rolls too just with take 10 inside). It could improve the reverese engineering thing with stats.

If the +4 is from half level (9th, rounded down), then the further +2 for his Heavy Blaster Pistol would be accounted for by Weapon Specialisation (Pistol).

They might be 11 base?

But Han's heavy blaster is +8 damage, not +6...

(and the 4th level death star trooper doesn't have any bonus to his weapon damage, and the 8th level Jensaarai defender has +6, at least +3 or +4 comes from his strength, leaving +2 or +3 from weapon focus?!?

I can't work that out just at the moment!
