Droids can increase any two of their five remaining ability scores by +1 each at 4th level and every four levels thereafter, just like any other character.

Holy Rule Changes Batman! If this isn't a typo then:

1) Droids are better then everything else (two +1/4levels compaired to one +1/4levels for non robots)
or
2) Saga Edition characters are insanely powerful compared to the previous editions (two +1/4levels for all).

Given the wording, it would seem that all characters get +1 to two ability scores every 4th level. Droids are restricted to only 5 stats due to having no Constitution score.

Which makes sense, as Star Wars doesn't have the plethora of stat-boosting items that D&D has.

Star Wars Saga Preview #6

All I want to know is if the customization rules are flexible enough to create something like this little fellow...

Interesting to see the feats Dual Weapon Mastery I, Dual Weapon Mastery II which I presume are offsetting some of the normal TWF penalty (the droidekas 2 heavy blaster attacks are not as low as one might otherwise expect for 2 attacks)

If nonheroic characters get 3/4 BAB (I can't remember whether that has been confirmed or not), then the droideka could have BAB +9, Dex +2, weapon focus +1 for a total of +12, then a presumed -2 (as a result of dual weapon mastery) to give a final +10.

That would look about right.

oops - forgot the -1 from being size large

Is is just me or does the droid get ZERO save bumps for his 12 nonheroic levels? If the saves are now 10 + stat + class bonus, the driodieka is only get bonuses from his stats.

I wouldn't be surprised - after all, we've heard that classes don't give 'per level' bumps to saves but give a flat benefit at 1st level (+2 Ref +1 Fort +0 Will for scout or something?). If that is the case then +0/+0/+0 for nonheroic classes seems completely in order, and makes them that little bit simpler too.

Now that you've seen previews of character creation and combat, let's see how they all work together by breaking down a scene from Return of the Jedi -- the skirmish at the Great Pit of Carkoon!

FINALLY! Can't wait for the next one.

Glad to see rules about droids, and it almost tempts me to make a droid as a character...

As for the "+1 to two abilities every 4 levels" thing, it does say, "Just like any other character", which implies EVERYBODY does that.

Which wouldn't hurt D&D characters either. Their top ability won't be any higher (a starting 15 will be a 20 by 20th level), but they'll be able to bump up another stat, too (possibly getting rid of an ability penalty, or qualifying for a feat at higher levels, or having a second high ability at high levels).

This would help classes with MAD, like Monk (boost Wis + Dex or Str), Paladin (boost Cha + Str), etc.

Or it could mean that everyone gets a bump at 4th level, droids just get 2 abilities.
