Spoilers Star Wars: The Acolyte [Spoilers]

Luke was a saintly figure somehow mashed up with a sexy James Bond type.

Everything was resolved pretty easily compared to stuff that happened previously.

Threats were always external.

The Jedi Academy novels were absolutely rainbows and unicorns. Definitely not an own goal to kill off the ghastly NJO books.

The stuff you just called "filler" lol. They're bringing that stuff back because it's useful world-building for the most part. Thrawn has been mediocre as hell in live-action, I note.

RE: SWTOR, because the SWTOR's licence allows EA to keep making money off it, and Disney would probably have to pay out big to pull it. I have no doubt Disney regret the deals Lucasfilm made there. Re: KotOR because it and it's sequel are still the only Jedi RPGs out there and they can run on a weakass machine like the Switch where Jedi Survivor etc. cannot.

Pretty simple stuff.

If no one wanted to play it their license wouldn't matter.

Thrawns adaption wasn't very good I agree. Neither was Ahsokas.

Where's the Disney equivalent of Thrawn or Revan that's not a Legacy character?

Aftermath was so badly written it hurt.

Yup they used bas8cally a newbie author.

EU was a mess and that was with established authors for the most part.

How does Aftermath compare with The Crystal Star? I've heard good things about Lost Stars trilogy.

Disney's big problem is they can't generate an organically popular character that's not a legacy character. They struggled with Ahsoka and Thrawn ad Ahsoka was quite popular few years back.

Andor-Ahsoka and Acolyte have potential.

Pretty much any EU book is better written than Aftermath. It was just so badly written in that idiot tense.

I do not think I have read Crystal Star since it came out in the 90s.

I liked some of the EU. I was not a big fan of the Vong and later books.

The vast majority of Disney era novels are just bad except for Zahn.

NJO wasn't good. The series not Luke's NJO.

I did like the Legacy books. Golden age for the games as well circa 2002-10 approx.

I read one of the Thrawn books and attempted Aftermath. Wondered if it got any better. Read the recap on the wiki.

I liked Rebels which was close to contemporary with Fate of the Jedi (sone interesting characters but not good).

The relatively good Disney shows kinda feel disjointed. There's no overarching lot, no Thanos, no Vader/Emperor. Rebels, Ahsoka, Mando are about the closest it gets. Acolytes 100 years later than the rest of the High Republic material iirc. Tenebrous canon?

It is just like the sequels. It feels like they have no plan or long term story board.

This also kills their ability to have good novels because they work in confined spaces with no real creative freedom.

Well the quality for the most part at least is improving. Timeliness jumping around makes it hard for a cohesive story. I don't mind self contained either but we are jumping around prequel to classic to post endor to High Republic timelines.

Kinda sad Jacki and Jord got iced but they were only in 3 episodes pre demise and are side characters.
Execution may or may not appeal but they're making sense at least.

It felt like they decided to wipe the slate in 2012 and start over but lost all institutional knowledge and hired a bunch of new people with no experience.
