D&D 5E (2024) Subclassing the Warrior Veteran

To me, BM is blue (indigo). EK….silver and cyan/aqua or purple. Red is Champion all day. Psi Warrior….idk I don’t like it anyway lol.

If you want a NPC to feel like a BM, just give it a riposte reaction, and maybe 2-3 maneuvers, that work like legendary actions.
Actions

Multiattack
. The warrior (Battlemaster) makes two Rapier or Heavy Crossbow attacks.

Rapier Melee Attack Roll: +5, reach 5 ft. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) Slashing damage. The warrior also creates one of the following effects:

Disarm. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 13) or drop one object of the warrior's choice that the target is holding, with the object landing in the target's space

Trip. If the target is Large or smaller, it must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 13) or have the Prone condition.

Heavy Crossbow. Ranged Attack Roll: +3, range 100/400 ft. Hit: 12 (2d10 + 1) Piercing damage.

Reactions

Counterattack
. Trigger: The warrior is hit by an attack roll. Response: The warrior adds 2 to its AC against that attack, possibly causing it to miss. On a miss, the warrior can make one Rapier or Heavy Crossbow attack against the attacker.

So I was thinking
for the samurai maybe a longbow? or just forgo a ranged weapon to focus entirely in on melee combat, a refluffed rapier and shortsword combo with the two-weapon fighting style and the defensive duelist feat? and give them the ability to cast compelled duel (or something to a similar effect, enforcing a one-on-one fight preventing interference from other party members).
