Gnometown Hero
That would be amazing, but probably too soon in the story of this Superman.

Gunn said he isn't doing the Marvel model of phases and building to a big bad guy climax. The chapters are more thematic. Ch. 1 Gods & Monsters its Creature Commandos, Superman, Supergirl, Clayface, Authority, & Swamp Thing. You can see why he says "Gods & Monsters" because Superman, Surpergirl and Authority are literally god like beings and monsters is self explanatory and The Authority fits BOTH Gods & Monsters. The "earned" thing is why any new MCU movie feels like I have to do five to twenty movie homework to see a new one. I really hope DC goes with same universe, superficially-linked stories route — and I think internally GotG did this, they mostly work without the other movies. I don't want to do homework anymore.
I think you will have an actual hero with Superman, much like in Legends when G. Gordon Godfrey turned the world against the heroes or the recent Absolute Power. Superman will still, through it all, be a hero to look up to.It's tedious for some of us. But we can't really have actual heroes anymore I guess. The Jedi and Superman.... Just other people we don't like because they're different or flawed. I miss the innocence of having actual heroes
At one time, back in the pre-crisis and early post crisis, the Trinity was Batman, Superman & Green Arrow with the Hawks being the fourth most important to DC as well las Green Lantern. They were greatly damaged by the shenanigans of Hawkworld and it's follow up. Not to say they were bad series but all DC had to do to fix the issue was put "X years ago" and they could have kept their new "darker" origin story. DC was so inconsistent with the reboot and how it applied that some characters lost decades of momentum in a short span. What is it with hawkman/girl anyway? They often seem to appear in a supporting role, but never seem to get much explanation or character development. Black Adam came closest, but I still don’t really know the nature of his powers or what makes him tick.
“I got wings, a wacky costume and I hit stuff with a mace” is a bit short change as a character.
That's not a modern tendency. They were always a literal couple until JSA when they introduced Kendra and then brought back the GA Hawkman. The story became the push against it by Kendra then. They are literally a married couple for over 50 years of comic history. The problem, of course, is both versions of the character are a little odd, and the modern tendency to want to roll them together doesn't help.
I think this is a bigger issue than an inconsistent origin story*. When you have a character with "average", common superpowers - average flight, average super strength, special weapon - how do you make them interesting? You make them the team leader (like Captain America). This was one thing the Black Adam movie got right.the fourth
Slightly incorrect. GA Dr Fate was more like Mandrake with spells being spoken in reverse, not too flashy. After Dr Strange appeared they integrated the more flashy magical style for Dr. Fate. So they rip off each other.Just a nitpick, but Doctor Strange is a Doctor Fate knockoff. Fate first appeared in 1940 and Strange first appeared in 1963.
