Trailer Superman Teaser Trailer

What is it with hawkman/girl anyway? They often seem to appear in a supporting role, but never seem to get much explanation or character development.
It's because their history is a mess. Sometimes egyptian soul reincarnation destined lovers, sometimes alien society whose high-techness manifests in blunt hitting instruments...

They're just there for aesthetics, which means they need the rest of the team around them to carry plot/character forwards, but then, in Justice League-level team-ups, being able to fly (but not super fast) and be strong (but not super duper strong) aren't really leaving a unique spot for them.

What is it with hawkman/girl anyway? They often seem to appear in a supporting role, but never seem to get much explanation or character development. Black Adam came closest, but I still don’t really know the nature of his powers or what makes him tick.

“I got wings, a wacky costume and I hit stuff with a mace” is a bit short change as a character.
The problem, of course, is both versions of the character are a little odd, and the modern tendency to want to roll them together doesn't help.

Its because, in some ways, Superman's interaction with the public has always been his vulnerable place in a greater way than kryptonite or red sun rays ever were. He doesn't do things for adulation, but its still one of the things that keeps him going, knowing he's done good things for good people.

General Zod: This "super-man" is nothing of the kind; I've discovered his weakness.
Ursa: Yes?
General Zod: He cares. He actually cares for these Earth people.
Ursa: Like pets?
General Zod: I suppose.
Ursa: Sentimental idiot!

As someone who only occasionally reads comics, I don't really know anything about either version. And yet they keep showing up in animation and live action! Either make them interesting or use a different character already!!

What? To make the other super-suits look sensible in comparison?

They have one of the coolest, most unique looks, and yet, the character is a total enigma to me. I've tried reading Hawkman/Hawkgirl/Hawkworld books before and I just can't get into either of them.

Maybe if some producer threw a "Thanagarian Snare Beast" their way....?

Back in the Before Times (1970s) the split between reincarnated lovers and alien police officers was the split between JLA and JSA, so two different realities.
