SW Episode III opening crawl (SPOILERS!)

i gotta side with frank here...

when i saw ep2 on opening night, and yoda did his "throw the cape open to reveal the lightsaber" it got half applause and half laughs. (which i think was the desired effect)

when the fight happened the crowd was still split between "wow this is cool" and "wow this is silly" (i STILL havent made up my mind, although i usually lean towards silly)

when the fight was over and yoda hobbled away on his cane, that got the correct hysterical laughter. because it was so well done.

I vote for cool. Mind you when I was a kid, aged 13, I thought the whole idea of a light sabre was silly. Nowadays, at 31, I think light sabres are kind of cool.

Hey, if Yoda is powerful enough to lift a mired X-Wing fighter out of a swamp, how come he's always limping around and hiding out in a slimy mudhole? If he can lift X-Wings, he should have been able to go to Endor and kick the Emperor's ass himself. Right after he used his powers to rip that Dark Side Tree out of the ground and fling it into the upper atmosphere.

:uhoh:

The crawl looks great to me--"War!". And while I was disappointed with aspects of the first two prequels, all in all I liked them and think this one will be the best of the three. It's going to look more like "Old Star Wars" than the other two put together.

the crowd was still split between "wow this is cool" and "wow this is silly"

I think the above statement succintly sums up the attitude of moviegoers (outside the Fan/Geek community) about the entire Star Wars phenomenon.

But one would expect the opening night crowd (the midnight show) to be the Fan/Geek community.

If Telekinetic power is the mark of raw force strength, then we have to conclude that the Dark Side acts as a sort of force steroid, boosting the strength of the user. In AoTC Yoda comments that Dooku has grown more powerful, and was a match for Yoda in the TK department.

I think most people would probably agree that Sidious is more than likely more powerful than Dooku. There is also the small issue of the Sidious often having around him the character that appears to have the most natural facility for Telekinetic force power. You know that character that casualy levitates fruit across the table and throws boxes at his son in Cloud City.
