Or read a book from the slayer side of life:
The Felix & Gotrek Novels by William King describe the adventures of the Trollslayer Gotrek and his Human Companion Felix.
Trollslayer, Skavenslayer, Demonslayer, Dragonslayer, Beastslayer, Vampireslayer and Giantslayer. Start with Trollslayer or Skavenslayer (for this book see entry below).
It shows that Chaos and enemies of the empire are everywhere.

Of course both are Heretics! The claim to have seen and fought Skaven. And as we all know: Skaven do not exist.
Both will burn....eventually.

This will result in players not wanting to get into a fight

 Man, I've rarely seen that happen. Just because the players suck at something doesn't mean they're not immediatly meta-gaming the system to know that the enemy sucks just as bad as they do and don't have fate points!

things to know about Warhammer.

There is a demon summoning in every published adventure...

When you see a travelling carnival....run away.

Maybe it is just my players, they look for ways to knock a foe down or something else to get the upperhand before committing to combat. They will attack but no rushing into combat if they can help it, going so far as sending NPCs for backup!

D&D: A game where you valiantly battle the forces of evil and destruction and ultimately become a super-powerful, super-wealthy adventurer.

WFRP: A game where you valiantly battle the forces of evil and destruction and ultimately die in a ditch. Alone. In the rain. And nobody cares.

You left out “betrayed" before the dying in the ditch alone bit.

And people do care a great deal about your dying character- Heck, they're been waiting the whole campaign to strip it of everything of value before they spit on your corpse and walk away from it, forgetting you even had a name in the process.

But overall, I would conisder this a pretty honest comparison, joke or not.

For your character, you might want to read some Solomen Kane by Robert E. Howard. Fight those forces of dark sorcery man!

That is REALLY cool that you said that, because after getting the basic gist of the world, all I could think was "I want to play Solomon Kane there."

Grim puritan Sigmarite priest adventurer.

Just rad.

Thanks for the info everyone!

I actually thought my comment was a paraphrasing of something off Critical Miss, but I can't seem to find it, now.

And for those who don't know: Jonny Nexus's links contain language and concepts that are not grandma friendly.

Funny, yes. Grandma-friendly, no.

I loves me some WFRP :)
But it is always nice to have them back as zombies to be hacked at by players. ;)
