Temporary hit points

If temporarty hit points is not considered as bonus it should stack, shouln't it?

Would be quite overpowered to let sorcerer cast false life 7 times on herself and familiar. Then 7 times vampiric touch on familiar or something else

Identical spell effects never stack. It's in the PHB on the section of magical bonuses stacking.

In the Psionics Handbook, there are several powers that grant temporary hit points. They do not stack, either with the same power, or with another power that grants temp hp.

At the Mind's Eye, one 9th-level power grants 96  hit points!!!

No sane DM will let that stack!

(I think there are a few exceptions, such as the Body Feeder weapon.)

Temp HPs wont stack. however, casting Endurance on a character, then false life, will, because the hit points from Endurance come from the extra con. Thats how our group gets around it......we just hope the d4 comes up high.

Identical spells don't stack, but temporary hit points certainly do stack. Thus, for example, each negative level inflicted by a wight grants it +5 additional temp hp.

In the case of spells, temp hp from different spells would stack. You could cast aid (or have it cast on you) for some temp hp, and then you could cast vampiric touch and drain someone, gaining more temp hp.

I have used the Endurance/False life combo religiously, and it has saved my wizard's life more often than I want to think about. I also use the false life as ablative HP's in the begining of an adventure, where I will cast vampiric touch. At my level, the average creature we encounter won't eat thru the False Life badly, and I'll have a net gain in temp. HP's.

I thought that temp. HP's did not stack, but the only reference I can find is about Aid, and how the points from it would not stack. That could be just that you cannot double the attack and save bonus from aid, which is what it was refering to, but I would think if the Temp HP's were different, it would have stated so in the same example.
