The Advancing Hoard - 3.5 D&D Adventure (Full)

The forest was quiet as the group walked through it, elf signs all over the trees for those that knew to look, and these adventurers knew that not to heed the warning to all of those going through the forest was a quick road to destruction, for Wildwood was the home of the largest colony of wood elves known... and they were not friendly to those that did not respect their forest.

It was just another day to these brave souls, on their way to Orenstein on the other side of the mountains, which in turn where beyond this forest and the plain that followed. They were going to the fabled city of trade (and rogues, though that was normally spoken under ones breath) to find work. They knew that work abound for a group of industrious individuals such as themselves.

Hi, and welcome to another of my off-the-cuff adventures. As the title states this is a 3.5 D&D game which will be using the core rules (As found in the SRD) and a few other books besides (Songs and Silence, Sword and Fist, Masters of the Wild, Tome and Blood, Defenders of the Faith, and the Psionics Handbook), as well as the use of the rules on Paragon's from the Unearthed Arcana.

Now, to warn you before hand, I'm going to play this game to have fun, so may not follow all of the rules for Treasure distribution and experience distribution to the 'T'... that is, strictly to the rules. Further, character creation is going to be rather different. It'll be making characters on the realms of those in the Forgotten Realms (Drizzt, Brenour, Catti-bri, and such), so the rolling system will give you a better character then the normal point system would recommend. Just a forewarning before you 'scoff' at the character creation rules.

Now, for those rules:

  1. Classes in the Core Rules welcome, even those reserved for NPC's (though why you'd want to take them, I'm not so sure).
  2. Races in the Players handbook are also welcome as well as the variants for those races found in the Monster Manual (Drow, Gray Elves, Wood Elves, Wild Elves, Deep Dwarves, Duergar, Mountain Dwarves, Svirfneblin, Forest Gnome, Tallfellow, and Deep Halflings)
  3. All characters start at 1st level, but will be advancing quickly (too quick to somes thinking, I'm sure!) ECL races (such as Drow) will not advance to 2nd level until they have bypassed their ECL level.
  4. Stats or abilities (if you prefer) will be determined by rolling (yes, rolling!) 4d6, re-rolling ones once. Now, that's not all. Your lowest score becomes an 18. Arrange as you please.
  5. Gold and Hit points start at Max.
  6. If you have any questions or requests, I'm pretty easy, so feel free to ask.
  7. I'm looking for 3-4 players (but knowing that it'll be 4). The first players to complete their characters will be the ones to join (or at least the ones to start asking questions specific to their characters).

So, please join me in this fun game, and I look forward to starting... soon.

I've wanted to play a full orc barbarian for a while. Would that count as a racial variant of the half-orc in the MM for you? I could commit to about a post a day, do you need a higher level of participation? A CN orc full of tribal pride sounds like fun in a fear the elves campaign. Would you roll or us?

I'd be interested in playing. I'll come up with a character concept after a few questions. Firstly, will we be using the Expanded Psionics Handbook, or the regular, 3.0 Psionics Handbook?

Secondly, how about lizardfolk? Will that be allowed as a race. I've always wanted to play as one, but I've never gotten a DM who'll let me. If you'll allow, I'm interested in a lizardfolk druid, although possibly dropping the +2 Str in favor of +2 Wis. Lizards are just wise like that.

Cool, I'm so in!

I am thinking of a human wizard for the game.... a Harpell wizard to be precise. If it isn't plot damaging, can I use that kind of background? I'm assuming that this game happens in the Realms, of course :)

He is an extremely flighty fella, always thinking about other things, never paying close attention to his background. His magic is more to Enchantment, Illusion and Conjuration department (read coward mage :)).
Can I use the UA Traits System?. I want this trait for my PC (I don't exactly remember the name :/ )
Bookworm (-2 to Spot and Listen checks, +2 to Knowledge checks)

ok, seeing as a fighter type was already called for, I'd like to play a Human Cleric. He will be a student of Cadderly from Spirit Soaring, wanting to follow in his mentors footstep, and be an all-might priest of Deneir.

Okay, I just reread the intro... and unfortunately, this may lead you to believe that this is a humanoid adventure... well the elves become your allie (friend... my spelling is terrible)... so I think getting the orc and lizardman in there would be difficult, to say the least, unless you wanted to play from the other people's perspective (the Hoard's, mentioned in the title). As to the HUman wizard of the Harpell liniage... well, it was not GOING to be in the Forgotten Realms, but that does not mean it can not be, so what the heck.

Taits... sure, why not (told you I was easy).

I was talking about the 3.0 psionics handbook not owning the other (or planning to in the near future). But if there is something that you like in the other, then please just present it to me, and I take it into consideration (to be honest, I'm not even sure how compatable the two are).

If there are any other question... oh, I missed one. GO ahead and roll (I'm a trusting fool, no?).

Like I was saying, if there are any other questions (and I know there are), please ask.

Oh, another. Once a day would be GREAT! I will post at least that during the weekdays, though I do not post during the weekends (family time, don't you know).

Stimo Rekk, faithfull servant of Pelor.
A young naive man, always puting the well-being of others before his own. Clad in white and yellow, there is no doubt who he serves. Stimo is also quite fond of battles, and what he loves most, after Pelor, is to cleanse the world of all the "sickness", as he calls it. Giants, Undead, Goblins, Orcs and all the rest of the "badies" better watch out, cause here is Stimo, and his mace is heavy and his prayers are even more so.

As you see, I changed somewhat the consept, but he is still a cleric! :)

Can I take the True Believer feat from Complete Divine?

3.5 psionics are in the 3.5 srd, psionic attacks and defenses are now ordinary psionic powers and psionic creatures are a bit different plus 2 new classes and a new set of feats with a neat psionic focus mechanic.

Is playing for the horde an option? Or would that screw everything up. A human/orc/lizardfolk party sounds fun. But I'm pretty flexible. Probably a dwarven fighter with a big axe if not the orc barbarian with a big axe. Something with a big axe.
