The Crux of the Matter

"Very well. Vanitri, please help Rinaldo and Hogarth kill those two as best as possible, okay? I love you darling."

Just to be sure how strong are Lust orders on Rinaldo minds. Since M2, the one thing that have been driving Rinaldo is his friendship over all else. If Lust influence is strong as a charm person, Rinaldo would not try to kill Ashnar and Tenebrynn as his bound of friendship is very strong with these two (Vanitri could be another matter)...

For Hogarth, well, he is loyal and admire Rinaldo, but if he need to kill Ashnar and Tenebrynn under a charm person, he might go.

Now, if it is as strong as a dominate person... that could be very really evil... as Rinaldo will suggest Hogarth to cast dispel magic on Tenebrynn (so his curse can come back) while he will try to sneak on Ashnar...[/SBLOCK]

[SBLOCK=Rinaldo]Stronger than a Charm Person. A bit weaker than Dominate Person. It's equivalent to Charm Person + everything she says is a Suggestion. So they aren't mindless puppets, but they are firmly enthralled by her to the point that they will do whatever she wishes in order to please her--but they remain otherwise themselves beyond that. If she had said "Take down Tenebrynn and Ashnar--they're a threat to me," for instance, Rinaldo and Hogarth could choose to use nonlethal techniques, but she didn't want to look incompetent by messing up on her suggestions twice in a row. As is, Rinaldo is probably sorry he has to kill Ashna and Tenebrynn, and he might offer for them to surrender so he can try to make their death as honourable and painless as possible in lieu of their friendship and camaraderie. He and Hogarth also got another save when she specifically asked to kill those two, where success wouldn't have ended her effect but would have allowed them to deny that request. However, they both failed that :([/SBLOCK]

[SBLOCK=RA]Slippery Mind is at lvl 10... :( [/SBLOCK]

Rinaldo sheets his saps and then draw his rapier. He tells to Tenebrynn and Ashnar "I'm sorry I have to do that. But it seems I have no other choice. I'll offer you a chance to choose your death. I can do it quickly and painlessly, or we can do it the hard way... and that mean I can't garantee Tenebrynn will die. He might end succumbing to his curse. So, please, do make it harder than it is already."

OOC: Good question, and knowing Ashnar well, and not trusting him as much as Rinaldo...

Hogarth starts to cast a spell on himself. [SBLOCK=Terran]"Gundar, ward me against my enemy, make me invulnerable to the fire of Ashnar."[/SBLOCK]

[SBLOCK=RA]Cast Protection from Fire on himself :p[/SBLOCK]

The knowledge of what Hogarth cast does Tenebrynn little good, but he shares the tid bit with Ashna, "Hogarth is warded from fire." As he does so he takes Guile's point and leads Laynie from the room intending to head to the seal.

[sblock=roll]spellcraft (1d20+15=27)[/sblock]

"You're mine Tenny!" Vanitri says, drawing both blades and chasing after the Pixie. "You'd better get Laynie to safety before I catch you."

[sblock=RA]Vanitri's thoughts are just that. Tenny should get Laynie to safety, and, Tenny should be the hardest to kill, which will take time, so he'll start with her, to delay, and attack as hard as he can.

Doesn't he get a second save though since he's been asked to do something dangerous?[/sblock]

(OOC: Nope--it isn't suicidal, just a calculated risk. And I already handled any resaves for this ability, which has slightly different parameters than Suggestion. Also, note that though he might be sorry about it, Vanitri really does want to succeed at killing Tenny and Ashna, not for them to escape ;) Anyway, he wasted last turn, so this will be his next action :))

(OOC: Also, I assume Rinaldo moved right up next to Ashnar while drawing the sword since he can move as part of that action)

*Lust continues to exercise her manipulations over her boytoys. Meanwhile, Eve moves over to Guile:*

"Pathetic wretch. You aren't even worth making into a wraith, and besides, I know you're more horrified with the thought of becoming an id nymph. Any last words?"

"Laynie, you have to escape to the Crux before they get you--they want your body for Sin! Kid, you're an amazing girl, and you're going to be a fantastic Wizard. I only wish that I could..."

"Too long!" Eve complains in annoyance, her hand darting forward as Guile attempts futilely to dodge.

*As Eve's hand comes to rest on Guile's chest, and begin to glow with red light, Guile tries to continue:*

"Laynie, I l..."

*Her last words are cut off with a gasping intake of air and then a violent delighted giggling, as her body begins to spasm and shift. She rips off her cloak and garments, her eyes losing their sharpness and intelligence and becoming softer and vacuous, as well as enlarging. Not just her eyes--in fact, her entire form rearranges and becomes exaggerated to impossible proportions, just on the edge between the personified ideal of physical desire and a parody of that ideal--if her eyes or chest grew any larger or her waist and body's distorted idealised hourglass shape were any more extreme, it would seem almost cartoonish. As is, her form melts and moulds to accomodate these changes gracefully, and it brings her an incredible allure of physical earthiness. In short, her form was completely idealised into an unrealistic sex object. Her measured expression of before is replaced with a vacuous gaze of pure worship directed towards Eve. Eve absently strokes her new pet, and what was once Guile purrs in unadulterated joy at her mistress's attention, but Eve quickly loses interest and turns back to her other opponents:*

"Lust, you deal with this. I know you're used to it--you actually like these things," Eve turns away and pushes the former Guile towards Lust, who is still adjacent anyway.

"Awww, isn't she cute?" she asks Vanitri, who is there with her, "Do you like her Vanitri? When you and Rinaldo and Hogarth and I return to our home, I think you can keep her. Once this fight is over, you should be sure to pet her and give her a lot of attention for the first day or two. With a newborn like this, there is a strong imprinting in this time period, and that will help make her yours. You just have to kill Ashna and Tenebrynn for me first, okay?"

*Meanwhile, the others who came with Eve aid their mistress in dealing with Tenebrynn and Ashna.*

*Fiery energy arcs over the body of one of the four wraiths, seemingly left over from the fireball that struck her, and she lashes out with a burst of flame, which Tenebrynn manages to dodge. Meanwhile, one of the other stands at the ready and grins, gazing towards Tenebrynn and Ashna with manic eyes and waiting for their next move.*

"Hmph, not even worthy of my brilliant techniques," another wraith complains, "Would it not be droll to end her with the spell she cannot cast correctly. Yes, quite."

*She fires two fiery rays at Ashna, and only one connects.*

(OOC: Ashna takes 12)

*The final wraith's eyes narrow on Ashna's Haversack.*

"She has the robe and she isn't wearing it! Ooo! Ooo! Dibs! I call dibs!"

*She starts to cast a spell:*

"Don't be greedy--that spell might end one of them if it succeeds, but it never actually works," the previous wraith instructs snootily.

*The other wraith shrugs and finishes, targetting Ashna with...Phantasmal Killer!...and...*

[SBLOCK=Ashna's Fate]She makes the Will Save--not dead this time ;)[/SBLOCK]

"I can't help it--it's my nature," the last Wraith shrugs.

(OOC: Tenebrynn's turn)
