The Crux of the Matter

*The seal, which had been dissolving, fades away completely, as the light metallic clanking sound they had heard earlier resolves itself, as Termina floats forward in a great hurry.*

"Oh no, Sin is free!" she exclaims, "So Guile was right. Eve--get your hands off of Laynie!"

"And what are you going to do about it? You can't defeat me."

*Termina narrows her eyes.*

"What must be...will be..."

*She charges through the air straight towards Eve, sending both of them and Laynie careening up the sealed staircase, at which point Eve and Termina begin to very slowly...lose pieces of themselves, as specks or motes of light begin to shower off from them like grains of sand or dust disintegrating. Eve glares angrily and calls out:*

"Mistress, I am not usurping you--I shall vacate your throne presently but I must borrow it to survive."

*And then she simply vanishes in an aura of darkness. Meanwhile, Termina continues to disintegrate, but, left alone with Laynie, she brings the girl up a little ways farther, as far as she can move around the twisting staircase, just out of sight around the corner, as there is a great flash of light accompanying a final statement:*

"Goodbye...my daughter. You're...safe...now..." the words trail off and fade to an echoing whisper.

*The former Guile reaches her new friend Rinaldo, who paid attention to her just now, and she throws her arms around him in a hug and gazes up hopefully that she's finally found someone who will hold her and pet her instead of tossing her aside and moving away.*

With Eve gone and Laynie apparently safe, Vanitri will take a step and skewer Greed with both swords.

Rinaldo put an hand on Guile's head before turning his attention to Pride. "You know that was pathetic for an aspect like you. Did you see yourself. Not only you have cast the spell Eve wanted, but she even point you teh target just like you were a no-brainer like Greed. You are a child of Sin, just like her, and you have followed order like her valet. But you are not, you are the best, even better than Eve. If I were you, I would take the lead of that group, I would become the second next to Sin, I would take advantage of Eve's weakness after that failure to get rid of her. She is vulnerable prsently because of her mistake." tells Rinaldo. He throw a look at Hogarth, making a small sign toward Laynie.

Hogarth move to Laynie and looks how badly she is and try to see what it is needed to reanimate her.

Tenebrynn retreats after Hogarth and Laynie too, though she offers, "I think the last one back there might be Sloth. She hasn't done much but wait at the back throwing magic missiles. It fits the theme, at least."

(OOC: KO2--please note: I didn't kill you. Vanitri killed you after seeing that Greed distributes damage evenly with whomever she is in contact...

*Vanitri stabs Greed three times, and Greed desperately drains what she can from Ashna. The good news is that Ashna doesn't have enough life energy to keep Greed from falling unconscious from the attack, so Greed falls unconscious. The bad news is that Ashna doesn't have enough life energy to keep Greed from falling unconscious from the attack, so Ashna dies.*

(OOC: Vanitri deals 42 Damage because he crits twice. Ashna has less than 11 HP (so 21 is more than enough to take her to -10), so Greed takes the rest after that)

"Well, good show Greed! You may be too stupid to do anything right, but at least you were good for something. I must say, that moron swordsman is more useful to us when he isn't under Lust's thumb."

*Rinaldo makes his appeal to Pride:*

"You're right. I am the best. But I'm not an idiot. I will make my case only after our cause is victorious. Causing the dissent in the midst of a critical action is stupider than your friend Vanitri, and that's saying something. Even if I was victorious, Sin would not be pleased."

*Hogarth moves up to Laynie, but fortunately, Laynie has already gained consciousness.*

"Hogarth, we gotta go back! Vanitri and Ashnar are in trouble down there!" Laynie says urgently.

(OOC: Oh wait, other people have turns now )

*Greed bleeds, still unconscious, her hand still almost-comically reaching for the dead Ashna's haversack.*

*Without more input from Eve, Gluttony readies an action. Pride smiles:*

"Well, looks like this is the perfect chance to try some area spells now that Elpis is out of the way!"

*She fires a Cone of Cold arced sharply to the left, hitting Rinaldo, Vanitri, and Tenebrynn. Vanitri dodges out of the way, but the others are chilled*

(OOC: Wow, the damage against Vanitri would have been 41, but he evaded, and the other two took much lower damage--23 to Tenebrynn (she's not looking well but still up) and 28 to Rinaldo (he's doing okay, but that was still a huge hit))

*The Magic Missile shooter, seeing Tenebrynn in danger, grins and moves forward, Electricity arcing along her arm, though she can't quite get to Tenebrynn yet...but soon.*

*Laynie moves down past Hogarth and gestures for him to follow back down to the fight. She doesn't quite make it out of the stairs area past the seal yet, but she'll manage next time.*

(OOC: Tenny's turn. Ashna is dead, so Vanitri is next--since he's right there, he may want to pick up Ashna's Haversack before retreating up the stairs, if he wants to retreat up the stairs because it has good stuff in it.)

OOC: How far Rinaldo is from a safe place (which is, a place where the aspects have no line of sight and cannot reach without getting killed like Termina?

(OOC: Ah yes, that is indeed a safe place--that's where Laynie used to be until she moved back down. It is 90 feet from Rinaldo, though he is only 10 feet from the edge of the Crux effect that kills Aspects and Wraiths (the other 80 feet is to go up the stairs enough that the curviness puts him out of sight completely from the base of the effect). If you are wondering how Termina managed to move that far in one round, it's because she had on Expeditious Retreat to get up to the fight)

OOC: I was mainly thinking if Rinaldo had a chance to carry Ashnar body into a safe place, knwoing that Ashnar body will slow him down, even with his new strength... leaving his body behind is something Rinaldo will try to avoid as much as possible, as he want to ressurect it.
