The Crux of the Matter

(OOC: Yep--Ashnar just can't hold onto that Human Paragon level. Maybe Fate is saying something about its opinion of whether or not Ashnar is an actual paragon of humanity  :(

Technically, Rinaldo is not directly adjacent to Ashna (Vanitri is, however). Thus, it would be one turn to move over and take the body, the next turn to move mostly to safety, and one last turn to get there. For Vanitri (assuming he isn't encumbered by Ashna, which he may be), it is one turn to grab Ashna and move 30 feet, then another to move 60 feet to safety, so better for Vanitri to do it)

"Ashnar! not again! Rinaldo, Vanitri, there are only 2 wraiths left, Gluttony and I think Sloth. Can you pull them into the area of the seal?" offers Tenebrynn as she flies up into the air towards where Hogarth and Laynie went. She'll launch her last magic missile at Sloth for now and stay out of reach.

(In Vanitri's defense, I don't believe anyone actually targeted Greed with magic before (only affected her with area spells), and it might have as well been that Greed drains anyone targeting her with magic, rather that drain from a grappled character like a glutton. :p)

OOC: You forgot Pride...
(Might have been on purpose. :] )

(OOC: For what it's worth. It is my policy to give some of the XP to dead characters for the encounter that is applied after dying and before raising--think of it as the last second epiphany before death described in this poem [SBLOCK=Poem]A doubtful mind begins to stir anew
And build a chrysalis from threads of dream.
The ends of all his struggles Fate doth hew,
Stern Atropos, sense stirring, slits the seam
That binds the mind, the body, and the soul,
A purging flame of zeal that immolates
The phoenix ris'n anew, once more all's whole;
An amaranthine glow now permeates.
Apotheosis beauteous and serene
Doth smooth the wary doubts that sickly o'er
And bring a new perspective, thus pristine,
And hints with softest whispers something more.
Yet as life's cut at once the knowledge spun
The secret sinks into oblivion[/SBLOCK]

This only occurs at the player's choice up to an amount of the player's choice. The upshot is that if this encounter would put you posthumously to level 7, you will only lose 3000 XP and drop down to 18000 rather than losing 2500 XP + everything you earned so far towards level 7 (which would be over 5500) and dropping to 12500).

*Tenny flies into the sealed area where she cannot be touched and launches a barrage of magic missiles, slamming into the last wraith and hurting her but causing force energy to play about her body in addition to the electricity. She grins balefully.*

"Hmm...maybe the Pixie is even dumber. Can't count to three and mistakes Wrath for Sloth. Ha, Sloth was too lazy to come!" Pride points out.

*Meanwhile, the former Guile gets comfy in Rinaldo's arms, contented at the feeling of Rinaldo's hand on her head, as she stays there quite peacefully, looking up at Rinaldo with a loving worshipful gaze.*

(OOC: Vanitri goes here)

(OOC: Oh, I usually don't explain the effects of the cards this much, but you might need to know for a later GM, so I should say--Velmont, your Temperance card has one additional effect--because of good temperance of your intellect and wisdom, the next time you are going to injure a companion through carelessness or ill-timing (which might happen under my watch or it might not), either the companion is unharmed due to an automatic success on a roll, or the GM should warn you of the consequences before you take the harmful action (whichever seems appropriate) )
(Just passing through to yell at Rinaldo that he drew this card rather than Vanitri. :p )[/sblock]

OOC: Um, sorry :o My only question is was there a chance for Vanitri to know his damage was hurting Ashna and stop first? or did you give him that chance and he failed?
