I'm inclined to say no, not in my campaign. I'm not generally a fan of new PC races in general, and this one seems to be even less inspired by standard fantasy tropes or designed to fill a logical niche than most. And does the following quote from that webpage rub anyone else the wrong way?

If you're playing a goliath character, consider keeping a tally of the monsters he defeats and track statistics such as "most damage dealt in a single blow" or "biggest wound I survived."

Generally speaking, I am also not very keen in adding new races (while on the other hand, I wouldn't mind to actually reduce the number of core races) and usually I am displeased with the new player races from campaign settings. But this one looks very nice for once! :)

My only gripe is with the Monstrous Humanoid type, which I think it doesn't fit.

re

I like the race. The powerful build trait seems really powerful, but then again it doesn't get much else for being +1LA. I'll probably introduce them into my upcoming Eberron game. Actually, I'd really like to play one.

Definately!

D&D is slowly moving away from its stereotypical roots and towards a more flexible world, and the Goliath is a step in the right direction. It's very much not a standard fantasy race, and yet it just fits. It also makes for a very interesting character with a very unusual psychology.

And no, that quote does not rub me the wrong way at all. It strikes me as a very interesting racial worldview. If you read further it is explained that it's not just one-upmanship or munchkin bragging, it's the way they measure their own self-worth, and since any goliath PC is likely to be an exile, they've got a lot of making up to do in their own minds.

The Goliath preview is the reason I pre-ordered the book on Amazon, so yes I would play them if given the opportunity. I might even find a place for them in my home brew world. although it has too many races already.

i really dislike the "Large but not really Large" mechanic, so i don't think i'd ever use / allow one in play.

I thought it was ok, but I'm not in a hurry to add more races.

I was disappointed that it was pretty much on instant equal footing with dwarves and gnomes as a race as far as page count.
