The horror that will be known as "Alien Vs. Predator"

I put about as much faith in the reviews on that website as I would if a retarded monkey had written them. Just wait to see the film and judge for yourself.

It wasn't the reviewer's opinions that concerned me, but rather the spoilers he gave about the script. If those are legitimate then we'll have one abomination(tm) of a story on our hands....

No matter what it'll be cool to see a Predator on screen for the first time in 14 years(!), but nevertheless, there's no reason to try and make it suck.

Yeah, it'll suck.

But why is that surprising considering the choice of director? Paul W.S. Anderson has made bad or barely mediocre movies until now, no matter how promising the film was at first.

I mean, how hard is it to understand that for Alien vs. Predator, you
take a foreign planet, perhaps with a human colony, or just some explorers? I mean, it's about two alien races... but no, it's set on contemporary earth.
That is a general decision that shows how clueless the makers of this film are.

Berandor

I have absolutely no faith that this movie will be good. In fact, its pretty obvious that the only reason it came to be in the first place is because of the very popular comics of the same name that go back something like 15 years. I agree with Berandor -
this might be slightly interesting if they set it on some strange alien world. Instead its going to come off as a lame Freddy Vs. Jason wannabe.

Sadly, I plan to go see it in the theater anyway.

Alien vs. Predator was done first as a comic book mini-series several years back. It sold fairly well and got pretty good reviews overall. I was under the impression that they were using it as the basis for the movie.

The first version of the script did from what I understand.

Since then, there have been dozens of scripts all which
were thrown out when Anderson took over.

For this.

could someone list the credits of Anderson, I am drawing a blank.

To me this movie will fail (by fail I mean piss off, the movie will make millions) because it can never live up to the myth we as fans have created around them. We have had years to build up a fantasy world and ideas in our heads and Hollywood does not think like we do.

Well the way I figure it is a movies can be broken down into one of three catagories.

good fun neither

I don't think there's much chance of AvP of falling into the first, but I'd say its got a good shot at either of the last two.

A movie is an experience and I try not to let things like continuity stand too much in the way of that experience, after all I'd rather enjoy my money spent (even if on something trivial) than be nitpicky and ruin the fun for myself.

[edit: Just thought I'd expand on the whole good/fun thing. I think a lot of people don't enjoy as many movies as they could becuase they want to lump the two together. But really they are very seperate issues. I'll give a couple of examples (based on my own opinions anyway). Schindler's List is absolutely not a fun movie, but is is a good movie. On the other hand Army of Darkness is not at all a good movie, however it very fun to watch. Does that kind of difference make sense or am I talking nonsense?]
