Surprised to see a Tom Bombadil discussion break out unexpectedly, not surprised folks have strong opinions on him.
 





The problem, of course, is all kinds of people on both sides of the table don't take the time to set expectations; they just assume them.

The problem is that they set their expectations long before they got to the table. :p


Is it ever really worth it to bother pointing out the strawman that someone is creating in order to "win" a debate, or is it pointless? The world wants to know. Where's that Tootsie Pop owl when you need him?

I usually just set the strawman on fire while they're not looking, and sit back to wait for them to reflexively grab it and waive it around before they notice it's burning.


I think my players have all forgotten that D&D is also supposed to be fun for the DM.

Start laughing maniacally as all their plans result in dead party members, and say, "This is fun - what are you guys gonna do next?"...
