All joking aside, here's the Bloody Mary I drink at home.

CleverMary
1 cup tomato juice
2 oz. vodka
1-2 teaspoons hot sauce (I use Sriracha when I can find it, Secret Aardvark when I can't.)
1-2 teaspoons pickling liquid from a jar of pickled jalapenos (I get the spicy ones)
Dash or two of Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, if needed
Ice

Shake all ingredients together, pour into a Tajin-rimmed pint glass (if you even bother to rim the glass. Sometimes I just sprinkle it over the top of the cocktail.) Then garnish with a celery stalk, and/or one of those whole pickled jalapenos from the jar I just opened, and serve.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a well-garnished drink. You "taste with your eyes first," after all. But there comes a point where I'm no longer buying a drink, I'm buying a whole meal and three appetizers, and all of them soggy. And I can't even reach the beverage I wanted in the first place until I've excavated it from beneath all of the lukewarm seafood, pickles, and salad.
When I make a Bloody Mary it has a few garnishes, but they all add to the flavor, and they're (nearly) all edible. A celery stick, a few banana pepper rings, a slice of lemon, and occasionally a few Mean Beans spicy pickled green beans.

Stop drinking vodka! Commit to an alcohol with strong flavor! (If your vodka has a strong flavor, you probably paid $10 or less for it.)

I feel this way about most cocktails nowadays but Bloody Marys are an exception still, for some reason. Still, I love a Gordon's Breakfast, so maybe I should start making my Bloodies with gin as well...

Mannahnin's Blood Mary

  • Pint glass
  • Add a celery spear.
  • Fill glass most of the way with ice.
  • Dash or two of black pepper on the ice.
  • Add a few oz of vodka to taste. A third of the way up the glass is probably good. Half or more if you're Firing For Effect.
  • Add some spicy hot V-8 but don't fill it all the way. Leave a bit of space toward the top.
  • Add a few banana pepper rings and a bit of the brine from the jar.
  • Add a couple of dashes of Worcestershire.
  • Add a couple of dashes of preferred hot sauce (I favor Frank's Red Hot, my brother prefers Cholula).
  • Stir or roll the drink using another pint glass.
  • Add a slice of fresh lemon.
  • Top up with more V-8.
