My interest in OSR games continues to erode away. Soon there will be none left at all.

The more I see, the happier I am I never really had any interest in the OSR, to be honest.

There's a reason I largely stick to stuff like Questing Beast for my OSR discussion.

I would recommend connecting with the OSR RPG group on Facebook. It is not a coincidence that their logo is the LGBTQ unity flag; they do not suffer nonsense like we sometimes see from dark corners of the OSR universe.

Yeah. Never, ever judge a group by the actions of a few jerks. Point out the jerks and stand up to them. But, try not to let the jerks ruin your enjoyment of stuff. Fantasy as a genre has had to shake things up a LOT over the past few years. And that's taking time to sort of percolate down through. I know that patience is so hard in the face of just so much infuriating, mindless, stupidity. But, at the end of the day, time is the only thing that will actually resolve all this stuff.

And, stepping back, it IS getting better. As much as it might not seem like it sometimes, it really is. Baby steps. Always baby steps.

The last X number of years of awfulness is largely a backlash caused by these groups' realization that they are losing.

They evenly openly use apocalyptic terms when they talk about being "wiped out." It sometimes gets a little silly, like the idea that the UN is going to imprison people in FEMA concentration camps beneath Walmarts in Texas (I swear I'm not making this one up), but it's born out of the basic idea that they know which way the arc of history is bending and they are freaking out.

There’s no way they couldn’t have an idea of the arc of history.

100+ years of civil rights movements and not a single one has failed nor has opposition to them ever been justified by history.

Iow, no one will ever thank anyone for their efforts opposing civil rights.

I'm not understanding the OSR pessimism.

Shadowdark, Dolmenwood, and Knave 2.0 are all massive OSR games with incredibly positive communities that have all seen tremendous success recently.

If there was ever a time to pop champagne and celebrate it's now right?
