Despite the US and UK focus, it's also an international forum. More than a few people here don't speak English as their native language. There's also a wide range of education levels. All great reasons to not be coy and just come out and explicitly say what you mean rather than leave things up to the other person's guess or inference.I understand why you're kind of soggy about it (since I've been following what I suspect is the relevant thread) but its a general truth that a lot people really do have trouble at doing inference (sometimes for neuroatypical reasons, sometimes because they've been trained not to do it by people who get even more soggy about wrong inference).
Except, of course, in this threadAll great reasons to not be coy and just come out and explicitly say what you mean rather than leave things up to the other person's guess or inference.
