The mandalorian [Spoilers]

I like the RPG stats discussion. Please continue it. I am sure people who don't like it can find a place to talk about the show which isn't an RPG site if it really bugs them that much.

Fair enough.

Rereading the rules anyone can be a Jedi it just reflects training with Jedi skills.

Jedi Knight//Master just says you have to be a member of the Jedi tradition.

Makes sense. Other force traditions use lightsabers, or one can train yourself I suppose.

In the dark times the GM can require you to take a level as something else first.

On an RPG site? Yup.

What an odd complaint. There have been multiple Star Wars RPGs over the years, that published stats for various "narrated characters". Many RPGs beyond Star Wars as well, including D&D.

No one is suggesting the writers of the Mandalorian think of their characters in terms of RPG stats, or did I miss something. As I said, your complaint is odd.

How dare you use logic!!!

It's a silly rule, unless there's literally no difference in traditions.

Makes sense though. It's also balance if you join the sith makes sense you can't take more Jedi master levels right?

There's usually in game restrictions and codes of conduct.

What until you learn if you go darkside the GM can remove your character from the game in some of the RPGs.

I don't see why not. From an outsider's perspective, since I'm the only one in my group who would play Star Wars, so I've never seen it, once you go Sith, Sith levels should help you more than Jedi Master levels. That means you wouldn't want to take Jedi Master levels. However, you still possess the same skills and have full knowledge of the path(s) you have walked, so you ought to be able to continue to walk them if you want.

That makes sense if the game is centered around being heroes. If it's an "evil" campaign, rock on!

It's mostly a thematic rule imho.

Just like if you want to have a Jedi character in the Dark Times or Imperial era the Jedi is going to get it rough unless they're very careful.

Clone Wars and Dark times the books basically say that your Jedis gonna die, go out with a bang.

I was joking.

Mostly. About the RPG stuff, anyway.

Where I stand: The Mandalorian is good. I like it a lot. It takes a lot get me to not enjoy Star Wars content. That's a short list that includes:
*The Prequels
*The first two acts of Rogue One
*Rise of Skywalker if I'm putting any thought into it

It's not like exceptional prestige storytelling or anything, but aside from two movies and the restored content version of KOTOR2, the universe really never aspires to more than pulpy popcorn fun. That's what it excels at. And Hawk and Chick fits in beautifully with that

I will say that it gets to a point where when every episode warrants a new rant with the exact same complaints every time, it might be time to step away?
