"I just don't understand what purpose it could have. It does not seem to serve any mundane, mystical or religious purpose."

Amirad takes out the miners pick and digs at it a little. " Perhaps the construction is covering something else?"

Amirad pauses then gives Austin a strange look. He turns abruptly back to the 'stalagmite' and hammers the pick deep into the clay.

"you know, a plaster cast of a person with a particularly valuable iem inside. Bring it to the client and bust open the bust and yo will still have it with ono one being the wizer."

Amirad picks away at the red stalagmite. It gives way easily, as packed, dried mud might, and an ancient, musty odor issues forth. Indeed, it appears to have been made from shaped mud bricks, and there is a space inside. Bringing the light close, the structure proves to be hollow, but empty. Enough of the stalagmite is cleared to stick a head and torch inside, and the thin, narrow chamber of the inside of the stalagmite extends emptily downward into the darkness, into a space apparently filled with debris made of more mud bricks and timbers.

Lidia is satisfied that the ceiling in this place is safe and properly braced for a mine. There appears to be no risks of a cave-in here.
