I would say keep the psionic classes as shown in the d20 modern handbook. In the show, powerful psionic people are pretty rare, even if the lesser psionic abilities (telepathy, empathy and so on) are fairly common. So the psionic classes reflect that.

In the Characters chapter, what does "Vital Statistics" entail? Height, weight, age stuff?

I agree with kirinke, the Modern psionics fit well with what Trek shows us. I'd suggest some kind of proximity modifier though. Mind melds seem to only work when touching the target (bonus to save DC?).

Could I get some feedback on the engineer Nimal I made? Am I off theme? Are we not allowed to discuss established Trek races?

I don't see why not.
Hmmm. I probably need some feedback on Hope, maybe flesh out her backstory a bit more. And I just picked out her stats without using point buy or anything like that.

Those things, plus Action Points (I was thinking of calling them Boldness but that's off the chart stupid), and other character defining things.

Mind Meld is a feat, only available to Vulcans and Deltans. If another Psi Race shows up in someones notes or online they get it too.

Nimal is great... I put him in my notes... and once I write something down... it's real.

On another front, Traits and Flaws is finished being edited... so that goes in. Next up for debate... Wounds, Vitality and Massive Damage. Discuss!

Well thanks for the acceptance. I envision him portrayed something like Mr. Garrek with a touch of Tuvok (if he were Romulan).

I just revised his description to match his skill selection. He's got those roguey skills to reflect that he may be stealing or hustling up equipment for the ship and doesnt want to incriminate the others. A sign of loyalty from an otherwise cold character. This occured to me when I was deciding skill ranks (after writitng his background). Which do you prefer, fluff first or crunch first when making characters?

I like Hope but she comes off a lot like River Tam (from Firefly) IMHO. Does she suffer penalties for using 24th century tech? Are her genetic alterations factored in her stats? Her skills are kinda erratic too; she can play a guitar but has no Knowledge of Life sciences? I'm not trying to be harsh, but curious. :uhoh:

I'm thinking for the gritty feel we may want to go with Hitpoints as opposed to wounds/vitality. Massive damage doesnt really mix well with WP/VP in my experience. I do love that damage system, but Modern/Future were designed for HP (less alterations).

Further, to take a page from CODA, how about incorporating status conditions with HP? After first third of total HP are gone character is Fatigued. After the second third of the total is gone character is Exhausted. Too much? Unnecessary?

I'd think Hope would have some penalities for certain types of 24th century tech and not for others, it'd depend greatly on what knowledge the ship gave her while she was in stasis and how much of that knowledge she can adapt to the current technology. As for the genetic alteration, her stats do reflect that somewhat, but there could be other alterations as well, perhaps not so noticable.

As for her skill selections, you were right, earth and life sciences seem to be a better choice, though the erratic nature of her skill selection could be factored into the above mentioned messing with her memory. And even though her memory has been messed with, she still is a fairly bright, adaptable young woman.

(No offense taken on the suggestions btw.... I came up with this idea in an hour and a half lol. The rough edges do need some smoothing out as it were. ;))

I'm not familar with CODA or really any other system than d20, d20 modern and D&D. Though I am more than willing to experiment.

You're all looking for feedback? Let's just say that *I* want to play in this pbp, the characters you guys posted are really cool, and I'm very excited about the netbook! (I'd elaborate but I'm at work.)
