In an Undisclosed Location

One thing to consider: The mask makes you blind, so you'll have to guess at the right location to cast your spell.
Oh! And one more thing to consider: Sleep causes slow first, then unconsciousness. The bad guys will have a chance to react.[/sblock]

Someone in your general vicinity--probably behind you--scoffs. Another, off in the distance, snickers.
You hear Olivia shush them.
"I know this sounds cliche, but it's not personal, just business."
"My party wants to fight the Legion of Bone in TURTLEDOME!"
"We approached Mr. Pinch about a half-hour after your party left with that halfling. He refused our offer. We asked if it would be possible for us to fight if your team lost. He said that he didn't allow more than one fight with a particular monster-team. Said it was bad for business, caused the crowds to lose interest. He did say that if your team didn't show up for the match, he'd consider using us as a replacement."
"So, here we are."
"We're going to hold you for ransom, and tell your friends that if they fight, you die. Maybe lead your group on a wild goose chase and capture them before the match. We've already got this wand you were carrying. Maybe they've got some other items we could add to our arsenal."
"You seem like a fine gentleman, and I'm sorry that fated dictated you're the victim in our plan, but I promise that if you behave, you won't come to harm and we'll release you to your friends...after the match."[/sblock]

It's not expressly written in the books, so my understanding is that they do NOT require somatic or verbal components. You think it; you cast it. (That's how I play Palindrome, my wizard.)So in 4e all spells require some sort of movement or speech?
They'll realize it, but after the fact. The spell will make sparklies or whatever.Or can Drivan cast sleep on everyone without them realizing it?![]()

Drivan coughs, wishing he could spit the blood from his mouth. Taking a moment to gather his thoughts he coughs again, blood spattering against the heavy cloth sack and dripping down against his chin.
He grimaces, knowing this group must need him for something. "...And what do you need me for?"
