TURTLEDOME!: Battle Bone (DM: KenHood, Judge: Lord S.)

In an Undisclosed Location

[sblock=Reklaw]
So in 4e all spells require some sort of movement or speech?
It's not expressly written in the books, so my understanding is that they do NOT require somatic or verbal components. You think it; you cast it. (That's how I play Palindrome, my wizard.)

Or can Drivan cast sleep on everyone without them realizing it? :-p
They'll realize it, but after the fact. The spell will make sparklies or whatever.

One thing to consider: The mask makes you blind, so you'll have to guess at the right location to cast your spell.

Oh! And one more thing to consider: Sleep causes slow first, then unconsciousness. The bad guys will have a chance to react.[/sblock]

[sblock=Drivan Only]
Drivan coughs, wishing he could spit the blood from his mouth. Taking a moment to gather his thoughts he coughs again, blood spattering against the heavy cloth sack and dripping down against his chin.

He grimaces, knowing this group must need him for something. "...And what do you need me for?"

Someone in your general vicinity--probably behind you--scoffs. Another, off in the distance, snickers.

You hear Olivia shush them.

"I know this sounds cliche, but it's not personal, just business."

"My party wants to fight the Legion of Bone in TURTLEDOME!"

"We approached Mr. Pinch about a half-hour after your party left with that halfling. He refused our offer. We asked if it would be possible for us to fight if your team lost. He said that he didn't allow more than one fight with a particular monster-team. Said it was bad for business, caused the crowds to lose interest. He did say that if your team didn't show up for the match, he'd consider using us as a replacement."

"So, here we are."

"We're going to hold you for ransom, and tell your friends that if they fight, you die. Maybe lead your group on a wild goose chase and capture them before the match. We've already got this wand you were carrying. Maybe they've got some other items we could add to our arsenal."

"You seem like a fine gentleman, and I'm sorry that fated dictated you're the victim in our plan, but I promise that if you behave, you won't come to harm and we'll release you to your friends...after the match."

[sblock=Kenhood]Not sure if this will work so let me know if there are any problems with this...

Step 1. Make the sound of someone's voices outside, not making it specific, going with a faint sound so that they think it's from further away. "I think they went this way!"
Step 2. The sound of a sword pulling out of a scabard.
Step 3. Cast Scorching Burst(would this destroy the rope?)
Step 4. Cast Sleep using an AP.

Obviously this would take 3 rounds with step 1 & 2 in the first and second round and then step 3 and 4 in the third round.

Does that work?[/sblock]

[sblock=Reklaw]
Does that work?
Let me put this way: You can DO it. We'll have to see your rolls to see if it works.

I'll need a Bluff check for the sound effects.

Scorching Burst is a flash-burn, so it would singe, but not burn through the rope. You need to apply a power that would make a constant flame.

And *cough* you MIGHT want to spend some healing surges, because you only have 1 HP at this moment. :uhoh:

Finally, if one of your enemies is adjacent to you, ranged and area-effect powers will provoke attacks of opportunity. Maybe they feel some weird surge of energy or something. However, from the sounds of the voices, your enemies did not sound that close to you.

This is a good pickle, eh? You're thinking your way through it, though. Of course, if you escape, you screw up part of the plot, but I PROMISE I won't hold it against you. :devil:

[sblock=OOC]I figure I should warn you now in case I get caught up and don't get the chance to here in the near future. I am getting married August 8th. That being the case, I will have limited internet access from August 5th through the 9th, and NO internet access from August 10th through August 15th (Honeymoon). Just wanted to give you a heads up now so that we hopefully don't get to the battle just as I have to leave. :D [/sblock]

[sblock=KenHood]I am trying to wait for weldon to get online and post so that I didn't hog the conversation. ;) The problem is that I think he is more likely to be charismatic than Vaunea and I wanted to act as his bodyguard for the scene, so no one would hear Vaunea talk, just grunt and stare. But this becomes difficult when weldon isn't here to be Finnian for us. If he doesn't post by tomorrow evening, then I will post my actions a different way than I'm thinking and I'll move on from there.[/sblock]

[sblock=weldon]Oh where, oh where as our Finnian gone? Oh where, oh where can he be?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Congrats, mohalloran!

However, I find that most bizarre, because ... I'm getting married on the 9th of August. So I might as well give my warning too: I'll have limited access from the 6th to the 8th, and then no access from the 9th to the 15th for the same reason ;)

So, you guys try not to blow anything up while I'm gone, and have fun :) [/sblock]

[sblock=Congratulations!]Welcome to married life LS and Mohalloran! Congrats to both of you! Enjoy your respective honeymoons! Where are they going to be if you don't mind?[/sblock]

[sblock=Kenhood]Sorry for the delay, haven't been able to get into Enworld in the past few days, guess it's been too busy. Can't get into my character sheet but I believe that all of these bonuses are correct!

Order of actions.

Second wind...
Bluff
Scorching Burst
Sleep
And there is no power that I have that does a sustained flame right?

And wow... I'll roll over and die now:-p

1d20+1;1d20+5;1d6+5;1d20+5[1,1] = (2) Bluff
1d20+1;1d20+5;1d6+5;1d20+5[10,5] = (15) Scorching attack
1d20+1;1d20+5;1d6+5;1d20+5[4,5] = (9) Scorching Damage
1d20+1;1d20+5;1d6+5;1d20+5[6,5] = (11) Sleep attack[/sblock]

The eladrin blatantly ignores the woman spouting at him. He looks around and sighs. Turning at Emral, he says: Nice performance. When you're done with that, we might as well head back to the old wizard's mansion and see if we can get some decent equipment. With this mess, acquiring useful information seems impossible to me, anyway.

[sblock=sorry]...for the absence. I want to f****** kill my internet providers.[/sblock]

[sblock=money]Hadaray has 34 gps from starting money. I think we divided our reward among those who did not receive a magic item. So we now have exactly... how much? I'm not remembering the exact cost of a lvl 1 magic item right now, but it should be pretty close...[/sblock]

[sblock=sessadore]whoa, you didn't mention that! Congratulations!![/sblock]

Emral struts through the hole in the wall, giving the crowd some more love. I didn't get an invite, so I decided to Crash! He laughs.

He points to various groupies around the room, blowing kisses at the ones with shards of the pavillion. that a girl, hey there. Why hello to you, too! Heeeey. :*

[sblock=diplomacy]1d20+9=13 not too bad, I don't think. [/sblock]

So what's this party all about? Is it for me?

[sblock=August 9] OMG, that's the day *I'M* getting married! No, ok, I can't back that up.

Question: are you two marrying each other? OR ARE YOU THE SAME PERSON?! Hah, I should get xp for figuring out the cherade! Shame on you, Mohalladore![/sblock]

[sblock=Trouble]I've been having trouble getting in to the site all week. It seems to work fine from work, but I don't really have time here to post.

I am alive, and I will post in character as soon as I can[/sblock]
