So we have to negotiate all house rules ! No one can make his own rules set because we agreed to play a more predictable set of rules.

So- before the next session- discuss this as a group and vote on it.

There is no rule that creatures can not sneak attack creatures larger them.

What a visual ...
Halfling carries around a small Step or latter to sneak someone ...

Halfling: "Here I am. Please hold, I have to place my box..." Halfling places box and climbs on it. "So, here we go !" Stabs Human who dies with a confused facial expression ....

Cancel the rocks, they would be to heavy to be dragged by our halfling thief :)

:D See the Gloves of Storing thread...Same DM, same group, same stupid (or, if you want, anti role playing) ruling...

Yes ! Sure ! But our DM says that this is not a vital spot, 'cause if a fighter hits hard with a longsword he can easlily open that blood vessel, too. Since he has no Sneak Attack this could be no vital spot....
Hmm, no argument for me .....

Hmm a human fighter can also reach the throat, eye, brain, kindey, lung, heart, etc. So I guess by that ruling they aren't vital spots either.

The blood vessel they are refering to is the femoral artery the main artery for the legs. It starts in the groin on the inside of your thigh, it would take a skilled shot to cut it, since most fighters tend to swing their swords from the side they are unlikely to ever strike the inner thigh of their opponent.

Can someone please actually find the rule on this?

I think that your DM is getting a bit confused with another rule, and I can't find where it is, although one of my players found it a few weeks ago... I don't know exactly where it is.

Basically, there was a rule somewhere which no one in my group knew about which said that you cannot get a critical hit on a creature that is 2 or more size increments above you... meaning a halfling can't sneak attack large creatures.

I immediately ruled (upon hearing this) that we'd keep doing it the way we had... that what the size is has nothing to do with whether or not you can get a critical hit on it.

I'm thinking maybe your DM is thinking of this rule, and applying it to sneak attack?

BTW... I've never SEEN this rule - my player couldn't remember which book he read it in. Does anyone else here know of it?

Here is something I found in the WWW.

And a picture I remember from my own karate-training ...
