Yes. Check out the equipment section.

From the SRD:
"Strike, Unarmed: A Medium-size character deals 1d3 points of subdual damage with an unarmed strike, which may be a punch, kick, head butt, or other type of attack. A Small character deals 1d2 points of subdual damage. The damage from an unarmed strike is considered weapon damage for the purposes of effects that provide a bonus to weapon damage.

Use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply a character's Dexterity modifier instead of the Strength modifier to attack rolls with an unarmed strike."

Hope that helps,
Greg

Weapon finesse states that it can be chosen for any weapon one or more sizes smaller than you.

An unarmed strike is always considered to be 2 size categories smaller than yourself. Therefore, you can select Unarmed Strike for weapon finesse.

There was, however, a variant presented in S&F that allowed characters to make a two-handed disarm attempt, raising the weapon size to that of the attacker. Extrapolating from that, if you make a two-fisted attack (dealing unarmed damage + 1.5 times your Str modifier) you may not finesse that attack.

Hope that helps.

Interesting. One can extrapolate that a Raging STR 20 Half-Orc Barbarian (STR 24) with Improved Unarmed Strike would do a double-fisted damage of 1d3+9 damage. SWEET! Makes monks a lot less the masters of unarmed damage until higher levels.

Reading some of the things Bruce Cordell wrote about Bite of the Wolf et al, it makes sense.

I might have to play a Half-Orc PsyWar using Bite of the Tiger. w00t

Note that the Barbarian in your example still only deal subdual damage, while a monk can deal real damage.

Oh, no, IUS sucketh rocks.

It would be ok if it were part of a Feat chain leading to improved damage, or to lethal damage. (I know it's already part of a number of Feat chains, that's what keeps it from sucking completely.)
