Well, you can achieve the same thing much more simply by just saying "add double your Str to damage, or Str + Dex for finesse/ranged damage". I'm not a fan of creating entirely new weapons like "ironwood bow" and "dragonbone bow" to fill out the tables -- those in particular sound more like masterwork or magical bows than different types of bow. So just have a "longbow" and assume that the character is getting a weapon of the proper pull for their strength, as with the old "mighty" rules in 3E. (Hell, this what I do with guns in a modern/sci-fi setting I have.)As for Str getting double dip in melee and thrown damage, that was the exact intent behing this idea.
As was that it gets a part in ranged weapon damage.
