What are you going to do with all your 3.x stuff?

What are you going to do with your 3E crap?

When 3e was coming, I sold all my 2e stuff. I never regretted doing that, but I think that this time, I at least wait till I have read the 4e books ;)

Other: It has been foretold that once 4e is released great cthulhu will rise from the depths and usher in a age of terror. The only way to prevent the cthulhu from attacking you is to read his stat block backwards under the first full moon after his awakening.

Had to pick "other" since there was really no appropriate answer listed for me. I'm going to keep it and actively use it in my 4E campaigns, just like I do my old BECMI, 1E and 2E stuff. I use old stuff all the time, and I don't expect I'll change anytime soon.

There's a lot I will be keeping - all the Eberron books, Heroes of Horror, quite a few others. I actually did reference my Second Edition material, mostly the Planescape boxed sets, so.

The rest I can and probably will donate to the SUTEKH library at the University of Sydney.

All this will, of course, not matter until I stop playing Third Edition, which isn't going to happen until we've finished playing the Rise of the Runelords adventure path at the very least.

For me books tend to fall in 3 groups:

Books that turned out to suck and oops, I'm out from the word go. (Easily the smallest group, fortunately)

Books that I get my money's worth out of within a week or two in reading, enjoying and gaining inspiration, but only see minor long term usage. (the largest group)

Books that keep giving and giving.

If I switch to 4E then group 3 will pretty much all fall back down into group two. But pretty much $0 spent on 3X will become "wasted" due to 4E in my mind no matter what.

And I'm curious, Emirikol - if you thought it was crap, why did you buy it?

I got caught up in the moment like everyone else..plus most of the stuff that is crap (most of it) isn't crap until after you've read it...but one man's crap is another man's crapwipe ;) I might just donate it to my FLGS like I did wth 2E. CASES OF CRAP. I'm embarassed at the amount of crap I bought..I must have been one of those people who got off on shopping (for crap obviously).

Had I known there was going to be a 3.5 so quickly, I also probably wouldn't have bought 3.0. (but I also had to purchase a certain amount because I was on the Livign Greyhawk Triad here and had to "review" a lot of "crap" for the campaign.

I certainly will be a hell of a lot pickier with my 4.0 purchases..that is if my group doesnt' rebel and simply refuse to have to purchase all that player crap again...

jh

Keep it so I can reference it when I play C&C, 3e, 4e, or whatever system I'm going to use. I still find my sourcebooks from prior editions useful, and my d20 books will continue to be useful as well.

Poll.

My answer: I look at the piles of crap I wasted my money on I have and I just want to throw it in the trash and start anew. The money I'll get from selling it probably won't be enough to cover the hassle.

[edit: how I REALLY feel about all this CRAP is in post #36]

Oh its okay to call 3.x crap but not 4E. I have so had it with this site. Ask me back when the people here have something worthwhile to say.
