What d20 game hasn't been done [or done right] yet?

I say go the Broncosaurus Rex approach.

Find any three topics that you have an honest and sincere love for. Now combine them. Hey, if Goodman Games can do it with Dinosaurs, the American Civil War, and Space Opera, then you can do it too!

A few things that I think would rock -

Black Company d20 - I'm not sure about how to go about getting the rights from Tor Fantasy, as well as Glen Cook, but this series of books would make an amazing d20 setting. I, before, tried to arrange a Black Company d20 fan conversion here on the boards, but it fell through. :(
Although OtherWorld Creations didn't have the rights to do a Black Company book, it was required reading for Mercenaries: Born of Blood. There's even a Black Company (there was a real, historical Black Company).

Mercenaries: Born in Blood explores mercenaries throughout "real-world" history, how they've been used in fiction, tips for using them in your game, new feats, skills, and prestige classes, as well as six samples for use in a fantasy game, two for use in a pulp/modern game, and two for use in a sci-fi game. It also includes:

A complete history of mercenaries, from the Greek and Persian wars, to modern day "security companies," to mercenaries of the future. It also includes:
  • 16 new prestige classes
  • 2 new core classes (the professional and soldier-of-fortune)
  • 30 new spells and over 15 new magic items
  • Rules for generating mercenary backgrounds, contracts, payments, punishments, and more
  • Rules for creating mercenaries using most any creature from the Monster Manual
You can pick it up here.

Me too, ideally in the Aliens universe. No stylistic elements from sci-fi have stuck with me quite as much as pulse rifles and the ATV from Aliens (not to mention the aliens themselves!). Gritty and dark, yum.
Just finished a collaboration with a few other fellows on Aliens, about to put it up on my site tonight. It's titled, "Aliens: Game Over." I used the movies, the books, the comics, the RPGs, and the toys for inspiration. It's 128 pages. My eyes are bleeding. I really hope people like it.

Had a few problems with the .pdf conversion but I finally figured it out. It will be up today at http://michael.tresca.net under the Freebies section.

Y'know, along those lines, I used to play sax for a living, and I had this idea for a pulp jazz band --- just a small-combo swing group, really, but we'd do the promos and the website in a pulp/cliffhanger style. Sorta like the Royal Crown Revue, but with more of an exotic Indiana Jones feel rather than gangster/noir. And we'd wear fedoras. And have adventures.

Have you seen "Hijinx"?

Yep. Beautiful stuff, and I'm intrigued by the possiblity of mixing different musical genres with the "mystery-solving band cartoon" genre.

But it makes me feel bad, too...all those years in a band, and how many times did we actually solve a mystery? Two or three times, at most. We weren't meddling enough.

I want to write up that band from the Muppet Show for Hijinx... What were they called?

Ah, yes... Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem...

Dr. Teeth -- keyboards
Sgt. Floyd Pepper -- guitar
Zoot -- saxophone
Janice -- guitar, vocals
Animal -- drums

I miss the Dune d20 game, eh, actually it never got to be, but I cherished my not-yet-there book anyway.

Are there no Dune fans out there?

I'm actually planning to run a Mononoke-style session tomorrow, complete with feral druids, giant boars, and a super-sized spirit of the forest. Wish me luck!

Very cool, let us know how this goes. I've always liked the animist approach to fantasy.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I've also like Miyazaki's nature versus man theme, e.g., In Princess Mononoke man is cutting down the forest. Do you plan to capture this at all in your game?

Ysgarran.
