What d20 projects would you like to see?

What's so different about them? The settings are very similar: D&D even has the same races already built in.

The system never struck me as anything spectacular or unique. I think any system could handle it just fine. Combat needs to be more deadly, but d20 Call of Cthulhu already shows us how to handle that nicely enough.

There are too many OTHER mechanics, is the thing. Basicly everything in the game has its own mechanics assosiated with it... decking, rigging, magic, cybernetics, martial arts, you name it... all different systems, but all inter-connected. Not to mention that I don't think Shadowrun could be done with a class-based system, myself. BAB just isn't right, for one thing.

Ack, shadowrun-induced-migraine kicking in.. please.. stop! stop!

Ugh, to be honest- I hope to never see Shadowrun d20 either, but I think it could be done and better then the original system.

I'd like to see some sort of open-ended d20; a stripped down skillset that you can add your own game rules on top of. A d20 template for lack of a better phrase. :)

I posted it under the Literay thread, but it fits this threads criteria becasue I haven't heard anything of it being done.

Thieves World, the city of Sanctuary. They are finally getting new books on it written and from the buzz I'm hearing it's been fairly populiar. THe old RPG stuff was very well recieved (for the few of us who've seen it) and I really think it would fit well into d20.

This would fall into Low Magic too.

It would be interesting to see but I think it wouldn't be the D&D we all know now. Combat becomes super intense and the players are either the best at what they do where they skill have to worry about getting killed ala Conan, Gray Mouser, Elric, or hit points all go to d12 hit dice with max hit points to represent the cuts and nicks but lack of fatal blows. Luck points or something.

I agree that the old Chaosium Thieves World was good but haven't bought the new book. What the hell is the idea of coming out in a hardcover? Sheesh. Damn book market and its demand for hardcovers...

Shadowrun as a d20 game? By the end of the year, everything that you need to design it will be available as OGC. It could be a big GenCon release by next year if TPTB would greenlight it. It's just D&D in a cyberpunk context anyway, so making it happen is not hard; Dragonstar has most of the good as it is.

Off the top of my head:

D20 Steampunk.
D20 Gaslight.
D20 Low Magic (another vote; perfect for Eidos Interactive's Thief CRPG; players could be a team of thieves, whether guild thieves or a gang of "lone wolves").
D20 Age of Unreason (as seen in J. Gregory Keyes' novels).
D20 Ars Magica (another vote; restructuring of feats and skills could provide a passable Hermetic Magic system).
D20 Star Frontiers.
D20 Stainless Steel Rat (as seen in Harry Harrison's novels; players could be starting Special Corps agents).
D20 Giant Mecha (a la Robotech/Battletech).
D20 Paranoia.

Low magic with a catch. Being like Enas Yorl are almost beyond epic power when magic is concerned. I think the magic would be mostly low, but you'd have to have the powerful stuff for certain NPCs.

I don't think you'd have to alter it much at all. People wouldn't be adventurers, they would be trying to survive.

I quickly scanned the thread and I didn't see anyone mention:

D20 Mass Combat
i really want a good d20 mass combat system too, but i didn't mention it because it seems there are already a few companies working on this kind of project (or have already published them).
