I have played with a guy who roled a charac with a 6 int 6 cha and 12 wis w00t!!! I believe he had str of 18, dex 14, and con 18. Was a barbarian, and was extremely annoying. Was dumb and always did the stupidest things, couldnt hit the back side of a barn, took the orc double axe and didnt put his dex high enuf so he could use the ambidex feat and didnt take the 2WF as well. Was always following me around, drew his weapon in my church where he almost got flame striked, he threatened the high preist. He blurted things out when he got drunk, was our bodyguard in our bar. If anyone asked him a question, whether evil or not, he would answer it. We as a group almost decide to kill him, we were very close to doing it too. Mind you this guy lasted about 2 sessions, in which he got rended by trolls, quite funny actually.

He somehow got a 20% share in a bar that we owned, dont ask. We crossed his name off of the list when he died.

I believe someone else said it the best, annoying....

Brains of Forest Gump, or a Gully Dwarf

Willpower and Common Sense of a Kender

All the social graces of that fat, slobby guy in a tank-top t-shirt, drinking beer, belching, adjusting himself, and watching football.

That would be a good start.

Fairly good thing the player is changing the stats. From the sound of it, considering that he didn't agree with the harsh interperation of these stats, he was hoping to slide by a new DM by using his own INT, WIS, and CHA in place of his stats.

This is a powergaming fighter with a low stat roll!

It's tough to role-play a bunch of low stats and not a lot of fun. That's just my opinion though.

I actually knew someone like this in high school. His name was Brandon. Brandon was borderline retarded (literally). It wasn't so bad that he had to constantly be in special ed classes, but often enough and he could go there any time he got confused in his remedial classes (frequently) for help. The world around him didn't confuse him. He could drive a car passably, read and write enough to get by (barely) in our world, which is much more literate intensive than most fantasy worlds. He just couldn't grasp mentally challenging concepts like math or physics, not the math induced "you push a frictionless box over a frictionless table at 1.3N physics but the basic physics we all take for granted as children. "Better not jump off the roof because things fall and it'll hurt." That was his 6 Int

His 8 Wis was as many described. He had next to no attention span. Any time you tried to talk to him, especially if you moved just too far to the right on that intelligence border, he'd start grinning and tell lame "You might be a redneck jokes..." and laugh his ass off. He was also very self-unaware. He didn't understand his emotions or how to properly act on them. He was usually really nice, but an angry Brandon was a frightening thing to behold since he weighed in at nearly 300 lbs and played on the Varsity football line. He missed simple details about life and walked about in a daze.

Finally, his charisma was low. Strangely, I've always thought of Brandon as being the epitome of gregariousness. He was outgoing, usually very happy, treated everyone the same. However, he never bathed, ever. He smelled horribly. His arms, each the size of a side of beef, would be used to slap you across the back everytime you encountered him which hurt and put you perilously close to his oderiferous armpit (and pit is an apt term). He interrupted people all the time, made crude jokes at innapproprate times, et cetera.

I agree that he wouldn't be much fun to play, but if your player is still unconvinced, have him read this about Brandon and see what he thinks.

Wait a minute - doesn't this guy have a chance to reroll his stats? After doing some quick math his overall bonus modifiers only yield a +1 - which I believe the PHB says you can reroll if your mods don't net you MORE than a +1.

Just have him reroll - problem solved.

I kind of messed up the initial stats when I posted. They were supposed to be STR 18, DEX 16, CON 12, INT 6, WIS 8, CHA 6.

The overall low scores are based off of a 22 point buy in. I'm planning on upping players ability scores as roleplay rewards over the course of the campaign based on their actions and how it pleases the gods (they will be pawns, and eventually champions, in a war between the gods that is taking place on their plane).
