I voted for "Iconic", since it has no real use whereas "broken" can at least describe an opinion of something...

Exactly my thoughts. Of course, my pet (hated) word is "buff".

That is such a horrid word. It sounds bad enough when used in relation to athletes and it sounds absolutely imbecilic when used in context with gaming, including EQ.

Then again, my disdain for the word doesn't necessarily come from it's over-use. I didn't like it the first time I heard it and my opinion of it has only gotten worse. It's right up there with "L337 speak".

(dropping my bundle of firewood) The Monastery...its gone.

If you got this reference, turn to page 53.

Turning to 53...oh boy!

Consult the Random Number Table. Add 2 if you have the Magnakai Discipline of Huntmastery.

I picked ranger.

What about "attack of opportunity" ??

"I'm sure it's an AoO"!

I think I just got an AoO"?

Do I get an "AoO"?

etc. etc....

Gotta agree...

Chiming in on "crunchy." Never liked the word to describe anything but crackers. I don't like "crunchy" guitars, I don't like "crunchy" rock, I don't like "crunchy" -anything-, and I don't even -know- what it means in D&D vernacular. Now, if we're talking crunchy petrified oozes or something, then that's cool. :)

That's really the biggest one, for me. Everything else I can mostly sorta tolerate.

This is Matt.

People do tend to misuse broken. Broken means 'so overpowered that anyone who can will use this spell/item/feat/class/tactic'. The test is to see if people really do use it this way. The only candidate I can think of would be Haste, as nearly every spellcaster who gets it takes it. Even that is arguable.

For other things it doesn't work. Some argue that archery is broken. Clearly this is not so, as there are many characters who do not focus on it.

I'll have to agree with the majority of voters and say that Broken has to be the most overused term on these forums. You could make a drinking game out of it. While reading the ENWorld forums, take a drink every time someone says...

Harm/Heal is broken.
Archmage is broken.
Polymorph Other is broken.
Whirlwind Attack/Great Cleave is broken (take two drinks if the "bucket of snails" scenario is mentioned)
Manyshot is broken.
Hold Person is broken.
Haste is broken.
Shapechange is broken.
The scythe is broken.

You get the picture. :D
