What, no thread for the 2007 NHL draft?

See, the NHL draft isn't as big a deal, because there are so many players in it, and because of the way hockey works the earlier picks aren't that much better than the 2nd and 3rd rounders.

Where as in basketball, there are only 60 players drafted (maybe), and in the NFL the early picks are usually big time standouts.

Yeah, sports like Hockey and Baseball tend to require a lot of time in the minors, so drafts don't have an immediate impact, while to a certain extent, college football/basketball is like the minors, so when they get drafted, there is an immediate impact.

So there's not much of a hullabaloo about hockey/baseball drafts, even though NFL/MLB are starting to try to (at least the MLB draft was televised this year, dunno about hockey)

The WHOLE thing was on TV this year. 1st round on Friday, the rest Saturday morning. I'm a hockey freak, but I don't want to watch anything past the 1st round, thanks. And even then, I'm more interested in the trades.

LoL! Good choice! I've actually belonged to the Hockey's Future boards about a year longer than these boards. Currently, LA Kings online fandom are split down the middle in their debate over whether or not the 4th overall pick will be any good. Peeps are pissed!

After the top 3 or 4 players, this year's draft was more of a crapshoot than most. That and the lack of major trades or other earth-shaking news is probably why there's not been much discussion.

Of more interest will be the free agent signings next month.
