Which monster book have you used the most?

This thread is really nifty! In the near future I'm going to start Dming for the first time, so this is helping me determine which monster books I ought to go in for. So far it looks like I need to get Tome of Horrors (good reviews) and Savage Species (customization is big in my books!).

Like Crothian, I use the MM more than all the other ones put together. However, after that it's a tie between Monsternomicon and CC2.

After the standard reply of MM and PHB for those human adversaries, I've used Monsternomicon the most in the current campaign. The various Creature Collection books come in at a close second, simply because it is a Scarred Lands campaign.

Generally in the past I've used the most (besides the MM) the Creature Catalog/Tome of Horrors supplemented with creature information from the old 2E monstrous compendiums (especially the Planescape MC) the most. In the previous FR/Rokugan game, I also used Creatures of Rokugan and, to a lesser degree, Monters of Faerun, quite a bit.

Right now I'm running a Dream campaign, so I've been using the dream creature templates from the Occult Lore oneiromancy chapter.

If customization is big in your book, might I recomend Monsters Handbook by FFG?

A recommendation I'd strongly second. The Handbook could really use a nice web errata/3.5 update, but even without an update it's still got a lot of utility. And besides, good design advice is timeless.

I think at some point the overworked Mike Mearls mentioned trying to pull an update together in March.

Mike, if you're out there, better late than never, man!

Besides the Monster Manual, of course...

Very little

Heck, I barely use the MM; I find many of the monsters in these books plain silly.

Most of the opponents we use in our games are classed characters, individually or in parties. Seems like the fairest and most interesting matchup :)
