Which monster book have you used the most?

I just got back to using CC2 again after a long hiatus.

It reminded me of why I loved this book in the first place. Blade beast, serpent golems, bloodless... bizzare-riffic!

A friend of mine (and one of my players) wrote a couple of the creatures for CC2: the Tar Beetle and Tar Golem...not sure what the fixation with tar is about...but I'm planning on throwing one or both of them at the party here soon and seeing how long it takes for his face to light up with recognition.

MMI, mostly. Usually, the bad guys are people, because Humans are the greatest monsters of all.

My brother did that with my barrow wight template entry from the Penumbra Fantasy bestiary. An allied party of paladins pushed farther into the Banewarrens without our party on secret church orders and eventually fell to undead. We ended up fighting a party of leveled wights who used to be our allies.

I have Fiend Folio, CC1rev, CC2 but rarely use. There are a fair number of decent monsters scattered around other WotC books (Minis Handbook comes to mind).

So which one should I try next - Penumbra or Liber Bestiarius?

Of those two I only have Penumbra's Fantasy Bestiary but I'd heartily recommend it. Good golems and angels, creatures identified by encounter use (combat, trickster, magic, etc.) extensive charts by type, subtype, CR, terrain, etc. Adventure seeds for every creature, and it is quite big.
