White Plume Mountain Revised is Up

Legacy rules eh? If they new they were going to do that, it would make sense that they didn't have a soul sucking sword like that in the actual Weapons of Legacy book as many books of magical swords try to hit that theme at least once.

Rolemaster Companion II had a few great versions of that and Excalibur.

I wonder if its an ongoing plan to have each redone module touch on at least one new book. ToH took several items from Libris Mortis, and now this one draws on Weapons of Legacy. It's a neat marketing move, though WoL doesn't do much for me personally.

I think this is the first time I've seen hit points explicitly referenced as something that is known and discussed in the game world.

It was that way in the original module, too - it's an interesting artifact to look at when comparing typical styles of design then versus now.

Okay, SPOILER ALERT

It's been ages since I read or played this adventure, but are the three riddles used in the new one the same as the old ones? Just wondering.

Riddles in a module ruin the module for my game group. That's because several of us are professional riddlers at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, and there are few riddles we haven't seen and solved.

The classis weapons are considered "+1" weapons OR you can use the Weapons of Legacy rules [yea . . . nice marketing]. Well, I found another good use for Arms and Equipment Guide.

The original only had one riddle (the one about the "altar of the lupine lords"). You might wanna replace them, as they are not particularly challenging anyway.

I didn't like the Arms & Equipment Guide version of Blackrazor and Whelm. (forget if Wave was in there.)

This strikes me as pretty good thinking on WotC's part. Reusing their back catalogue to drive sales of new products (White Plume -- Weapons of Legacy, and Tomb -- Libris Mortis) means small investment for whole new products. They can afford to give them away, please us old grognards and generate interest in their new products. I say smart.

Well, pretty smart. I haven't bought any of the referenced new products, so I guess it hasn't worked THAT well.
