Here's how it's working out for our group: the two guys who DM (me and a buddy) will get 3.5 because we are agents of the machine and lack the free will to do otherwise. But that leaves a loose group of 4-8 people. The SRD is going to be a huge factor, one guy has said that he'll be using that. As for the rest, we'll probably make a conversion page on the group's website if they decide not to upgrade.

I mean, I'm going to want to play 3.5 and so will the other DM, but it isn't our game. It's the group's game. And no one should have to feel put out because they don't want to drop a bunch of cash on books they argueably already have.

For existing campaigns, we will debate and work it out. (I assume that's what the focus of this poll is.)

For new campaigns, the DM proposes the idea, same as if we were playing Mutants and Masterminds, or if we were playing another game system.

I think our gaming group, based on recent conversations, is likely going to go 3.5 all the way. We're suckers for new rules, after all. Then we'll come up with our own decisions for house rules. But it does make it so much easier when a DM doesn't have to hand out 5 or 6 pages of his own stuff when a new game starts.

:D

Group decision, for the most part, but I think if a DM invests the money in the new edition the game is eventually going to switch over even if that means some players depart and others join in...or a second group is formed.

I voted for "Decide as a Group" but I'm definately planning on upgrading.

I'll be buying a few Player's Handbooks for my players as gifts, so my group will have no problem converting.

We are going about the changes slowly as things are being released. Since we have already made changes to the core system (we use Action Dice, adjusted rules for archery stacking, saves for most spells that affect someone else, etc) this is nothing new. We talk it over and vote on it. Generally we are unanimous about the rulings.

My group has already started debating. We're all going to pick up 3.5, but some players want to switch immediately, while I (as DM) want to finish up the current campaign in 3.0, then start a new 3.5 game.

We made a group decision to switch over to 3.5; however, it was made much easier by the fact that we are about to be between campaigns, so we will finish up the current one just about the time the new rules come out.

Still waiting to see just how different the new revisions are to see if we shall ignore in-game the differences in the characters or if we will do something in-game to explain why abilities are different, e.g. rangers getting virtual feats later and changes in spell durations.
