One of the responsibilities of a DM is emphasize the aspects of D&D that the players at ones table enjoy.

So if a DM can't do that, they shouldn't run D&D?

That makes sense. Half the time I see people complain about something, they also refuse to just fix it themselves.

PCs too powerful? Just throw more monsters?

Rules to gamist? Just replace them with more simulation type ones.

Dont like non human races? Just ban them! Or make the human race OP so everyone wants to be one anyway?

I think D&D is about as broad appeal as it gets, with lots of different approaches and styles. I mean if you don't like it, then don't force yourself to play it, but I don't think you really know if it is going to work for you till you try. When I first sat down to play D&D in 3rd or 4th grade, I was not at all the stereotypical D&D type. But it clicked with me. I have often been surprised by people who it clicked with. You don't need to be particularly skilled at anything or appropriately nerdy or into fantasy. Some people it just lands with

The other thing I can think about is that sometimes things will go well, and sometimes that won't be the case. You need to be able to disconnect from the bad experiences which can happen from time to time. They likely will, especially at the start of the game. If you can't accept that sometimes you won't get what you want, I don't think it's the right game for you.
This.

If you can't handle sometimes-unexpected setbacks and losses, or are going to take them personally and act out over them, this game ain't for you.

And designing the game to remove those setbacks and losses is NOT the answer.

The first and third of those suggestions are simple enough; but not every DM (particularly those new or new-ish to it) is up to - or has time for - the rather daunting task of the system-wide kitbash your second suggestion would require.

Sometimes D&D might not be the game for someone. A player at my table pretty much quit rpgs altogether because he doesn't really like D&D. Being exposed to other games has him excited for the hobby.

This is the only reason I can think of. You might like other systems better due to genre or ruleset.

Then D&D isn't for them??

Mindy. Mindy should not play Dungeons and Dragons. Mindy gets too stressed out by Dungeons and Dragons because she is so afraid her character will die. It's not fun for her. She likes creating characters but she doesn't want them to die. It is a cruelty to oneself to create something you love, then go put it into dangerous situations where it could die. Mindy, should not play Dungeons and Dragons.
