I've playedevry version of DnD and have no gripes with any edition, though I do prefer 3.5. To me it is by far the easiest edition to understand.

Can't. In order to like something, you HAVE to HATE something else.

For example, I like brunettes, therefore I have to hate blondes. I like RPGs and role-players, therefore I have to hate TCGs and cardplayers.

I don't hate any edition. I prefer some editions over others and often state my preferences without slamming another edition. '81 Basic/Expert is my particular favorite, but I have played most of the others. I've enjoyed ever version I've played, although some took me longer to get the hang of than others.

And here is a big challenge: Can you state why you like *D&D* as a game/genre without referencing a particular edition of D&D?

Sure. I like the thrill of adventure and the sense of wonder that a fantasy adventure game brings. I also enjoy crassly knocking down doors, killing monsters, and taking treasure. In many ways I still haven't quite gotten over the youthful glee I experienced when plundering my first dungeon.

D&D fell out of favor with me during 2e and has gotten back into favor with me with 3e...

I like all editions really. I played the Basic and Expert sets, AD&D 1st and 2nd edition, missed the 3.0 edition and back into it with the 3.5 edition. I had things I liked about each of the editions and nothing that I disliked about any of them that would cause me to hate any of the editions.
