Why is my message box brown?

Can anybody tell my why the box I type the messages in when I reply (or start a new thread) is the same dark brown as the background of alternate messages that conceals the black text I'm imputting? It's *really* difficult to read. Thanks!

1) what browser are you using?
1a) why did you think anyone could help you without specifying any information about your computer?

2) If it's Internet Ecxplorer, than check Tools-->Internet Options
look at the Colors button, and you want the checkbox of Use Widnows Colors to be on.

Netscape 7.02 under Win98.

A general failure to make the connection that it might be something at my end, brought on by a lack of sleep. :)

Indeed. And upon fidgeting with the analagous settings in netscape (which were set correctly, so were flipped to "set my own colours" and back again) the text box now looks correct.

However. Now the tool bar on top of the text box is a nice light tan colour, obscuring the nice lighter tan coloured text that goes with the radio buttons. Woe is me. :)

edit: This appears to be a one-post only solution. As soon as I navigate away, I'm back to a low-contrast background for typing in. Grr.

I just downloaded Mozilla Firebird from Mozilla.org and it has all the nice functionality of Mozilla/Netscape, but the text boxes work correctly. Don't know why, but there it is (though it does have the yellow on tan above the text box.... but I never use that stuff anyway).
