LOL! :) Don't forget Paragons and Infernals there Mike! ;)

I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv the Paragons. They've inspired an entirely new story arc in my campaign. Hell, maybe two or three arcs :). We'll see what happens!

Exactly nightfall, yes I have the ELH and have read the first few chapters. The characters are certainly powerful but they are not quite Deties yet and certainly could not kill one.

Take the stats for Zeus for example they list him as Barbarian-20/fighter-20/cleric-10 which would make him minimum 50th level. But then he has a lot of other abilities for example he has 98 ranks in the skill jump wouldn't that make him 95th level. Also his base stats are a lot higher than a 50th level epic character would have using ELH.Also Zeus has access to Divine abilities which are more powerful than Epic feats.

Really the only thing Deities are missing are Epic level feats, spells and magic items and it would be that difficult to add them if you wanted to.

The ELH's most powerful stated human would be Elminster and his abilities don't even come close to those of a greater god.

The only area where I do see a bit of concern would be with the dragons Tiamat from D&Dg seems to be about equal to the greatwrym prismatic dragon though Tiamat might have the slight edge because of divine abilities. But the prismatic dragon have more hit points by far Tiamat-906 Prismatic Dragon(great wyrm)-2,613

Heh...

Maybe the Paragon Template is the easiest way to increase your average every day Deity... Just take the base Deity and add one Paragon Template... problem solved!!!

Just an Idea

What if they had combined the two books? Take out the Greek, Norse, and Egyptian Pantheons from the DDG and put 'em up at Web Enhancements. Leave the Greyhawk and the section on how to build your own pantheons, and the first part of the book. And, put the stuff from the ELH from the beginning.

Admittedly, I haven't seen the ELH yet at my retailer, and I'm sure that this would require a lot of editing to make the sections flow together, but that could solve the problem, maybe? It would probably need a slightly higher price tag, too.

A question - I'm new to posting on message boards, and I keep seeing references to "troll" or "trolling." What is that? It seems to be negative. I assume it means making comments just to get a reaction, like "fishing"? But at what point do you know if someone is really doing that or if they are honestly giving their opinion? It seems rather subjective to just decide to call someone a troll (if I have the definition correct).

That was something I had thought about. Tiamat, I think, might need some epic levelness to her SINCE she doesn't have much else other than Dragon HD. I think she should be "advanced" to a catagory at least 10 times her usual HD.

Samothdm,

Actually that wouldn't do much SINCE the Epic level rules are only for LEGENDARY heroes. They are still mortal and believe, that's the main difference between gods and near immortal heroes/villians.

Yes, you've got the right basic idea. I quote from The Jargon File:

troll
1. v.,n. [From the Usenet group alt.folklore.urban] To utter a posting on Usenet designed to attract predictable responses or flames; or, the post itself. Derives from the phrase "trolling for newbies" which in turn comes from mainstream "trolling", a style of fishing in which one trails bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite. The well-constructed troll is a post that induces lots of newbies and flamers to make themselves look even more clueless than they already do, while subtly conveying to the more savvy and experienced that it is in fact a deliberate troll. If you don't fall for the joke, you get to be in on it. See also YHBT. 2. n. An individual who chronically trolls in sense 1; regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of life on the net, as in, "Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll." Compare kook. 3. n. [Berkeley] Computer lab monitor. A popular campus job for CS students. Duties include helping newbies and ensuring that lab policies are followed. Probably so-called because it involves lurking in dark cavelike corners.

Some people claim that the troll (sense 1) is properly a narrower category than flame bait, that a troll is categorized by containing some assertion that is wrong but not overtly controversial. See also Troll-O-Meter.

The use of `troll' in either sense is a live metaphor that readily produces elaborations and combining forms. For example, one not infrequently sees the warning "Do not feed the troll" as part of a followup to troll postings.

And, you are correct to say that it's pretty rude to go calling a person a troll based upon little evidence.

As others have pointed out--the gods don't need epic levels.

Look at the Divine abilities they receive. A god could be a first level commoner with no other class levels, and still be more than a match for many epic-level characters.

You can't compare the class levels of a deity to the class levels of a PC--even an epic one--and expect to get a good match. Characters' power level is based entirely on class/epic levels. Gods have powers above and beyond those considerations.

Thanks for the "troll" definitions. I'm probably being paranoid because I don't want anyone to think I'm doing that in any of the posts I make.

Nightfall, you're probably right. I was thinking of it more in the context of: If the ELH and the DDG were combined into one book, then you could give Epic Level Feats to the gods. That seemed to be of some concern to people, and it would be a way to do it that wouldn't require someone to purchase two books. But, on second thought, it is a pretty extreme solution just to take care of the epic feats thing.
