Wizards, I feel jipped

Mercurius

Legend
Why? Because there is no major release (core book) this month--nothing to spend my hard-earned money on (I'm not including minor releases, like record sheets, screens, tiles, minis, adventures, etc...they don't really satisfy the Urge). Here is the known schedule so far for hardcover/core books:

JUNE, '08 - (3) Three core rulebooks - PHB, DMG, MM
JULY, '08 - (0)
AUGUST, '08 - (1) Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting
SEPTEMBER, '08 - (2) Adventurer's Vault, FR Player's Guide
OCTOBER, '08 - (0)
NOVEMBER, '08 - (2) Martial Power, Draconomicon I
DECEMBER, '08 - (1) Manual of the Planes
JANUARY, '09 - (1) Open Grave
FEBRUARY, '09 - (1) Dungeon Delve
MARCH, '09 - (1) PHB II
APRIL, '09 - (1) Arcane Power
MAY, '09 - (1) MM II
JUNE, '09 - (1) Eberron Campaign Setting
JULY, '09 - (2) Divine Power, Eberron Player's Guide
AUGUST, '09 - (1) Adventurer's Vault II

I'm wondering how they planned their release schedule. I understand not releasing anything major in July after the three core rulebooks, but it seems odd to not release anything major in October, especially when they have two books in Sept and Nov each. Isn't that lost momentum? Or do they figure they have more of a chance of people buying the deluxe books if they don't release anything else?

Okay, it is a minor beef, but I can whine, can't I? I just have to wait another month...

Well DDI was also put into subscription this October and if someone bought a year's subscription (like I did), that is 2 books worth amount of money. Soo... They may have put that into consideration.

Good thought but I don't think so, because I don't think they knew when DDI would get going, whereas this year's book schedule has been up since, I dunno, early this year.

Martial Power was originally scheduled for this month, but it got pushed back to Nov. So something WAS scheduled earlier this year. It just changed about a month ago.

You know I think the release schedule, in general, is sparse because Gleemax and DDI were suppose to be generating revenue for WotC at the release of 4e. Furthermore, I think 4e itself has been designed to incorporate DDI as being just as, if not moreso, integral than the supplemental books to be published...I mean think about it, their giving away the crunch in the supplemental books away to subscribers for free... but not giving the Dragon crunch to those who purchase books.

Martial Power was supposed to come out in October. It got switched with the D&D Basic Set because of the change in printers.

I must have missed that - when (and why?) did they change printers?

Cheers!

I forgot right now where I read it (obviously it was sometime after the change in schedule) but from what I remember, it's regarding the quality of the books. (Ink smudges? Thickness of paper?)

Martial Power needed more time so it slipped to November. Coincidentally the RPG Starter came in a early so we moved it up a month.

Our general plan is to have one main title a month with some secondary product like a tile or adventure
