Twitter is flipping out because apparently Ellywick was originally brown skinned and got "white washed". They talked diversity in this set, and then they do this, WTF?

it seems like someon F'ed up and posted an old picture. It seems to be fixed now

It doesn't change what they do or why they did it.
Wel, it kind of does. If the white picture was old, it seems they chose to make her skin darker later in the development process. So it's not whitewashing. This is assuming what is said in the tweet is true, that the white picture was an old version that was uploaded by mistake. That's quite different from making a brown character white on purpose

Twitter is always full of people flipping out over something
It's where you go to get angry and flip out and rage at people
And, of course, never, ever apologize after attacking someone, even if it was an honest mistake

The image has already been fixed on the wallpaper site

Very likely the light skinned variant was the artists' first draft and they changed it for diversity
(Which was also why they cast the fair skinned actress as the character)
But the separate department doing the wallpapers and website wasn't informed of the change and mistakenly used the old image. Because it's not like they're going to ask "are you suuuure?"or "is this the final one?" for every single image

WizCo made the character darker because they wanted representation. They fixed the mistake when it was noticed
Story over, everyone chill
