Yet another sneak attack question

Assuming I am withing 30 feet of my target, they are flat footed, and i beat their AC with a ranged weapon:

If my ranged weapon has the Seeking magic mod, does this provide any benefits at all? At first glance it would seem that it allows me to ignore any amount of concealment. Does this mean i can sneak attack someone blurred?

as a side note, one of my friends and co player in a campaign claims that the psionic general feat ly Precision is overpowered...has anyone had any experience about this?

Hrm. Tough one.

My initial guess is no.

Your opponent is concealed. Therefore, you cannot make a sneak attack against them.

Your weapon has a special power that allows you to ignore the miss chance.

It doesn't make them "unconcealed," merely guarantees success on the "Miss Chance" roll.

I concur with Patryn of Elvenshae.

As do I.

The blur removed your ability to sneak attack. Now the magic weapon negates the miss chance, but *using* that magic is being less precise yourself, you're not the one directing the attack anymore, or at least you're not directing it enough. Now the magic is taking over, which would negate your miss chance and lessen your accuracy towards hitting a vital area...

I also have to agree with the others... just because your bow can 'see' the target well enough to hit, doesn't mean you can see well enough to hit a vital spot.

Meh. The reason you can't sneak attack someone with concealment is because you can't target them well enough. The way this is represented in-game is via the miss chance. Seeking removes that miss chance, ergo you no longer have a problem targeting them. Therefore there's no reason you shouldn't be able to sneak attack.

I guess so... mechanically. But SA is targeting a "vital spot for extra damage". And the Seeking enhancement "veers towards the target" after it has been shot.... negating any targeting the shooter may have done before he shot.

YMMV... but I'm sure something about SA would have been mentioned if that is what they intended.

I'm going to go with hong on this one, not because I have any great rules or flavor text backing, but because my base assumption is that what the players are trying to do works. I figure that there are plenty of critters running around my campaign world that are simply immune to sneak attacks at all. If the Rogue spends the buck on the Seeking weapon (which he'd have to do with a melee weapon too if he wanted to continue to get the benefit once the battle was joined), gets within 30 feet of his opponent and manages to get the drop on him, why not let him get in his Sneak Attack.

I understand both sides of the arguement but I am going to support Hong on this one. Its not like this is going to be that common a situation and there are already so many times rogues are denied sneak attack.

Note that Seeking is a missile-weapon only enhancement.
