Yo, Yo! GI JOE!

What would you say if Mark Wahlberg, aka Marky Mark, might be cast as Duke of the GI JOE live-action film?

What would you also say that not many international audience may not appeal to this so producer is considering adding an Alex Mann, aka Action Man (yes, from that CG animation series) to the cast?

I am GREATLY resisting the urge to start fanboy ranting here.
I dont mind Marky Mark if he can play the part. I'd have to see him in costume.
As for the International sales...It's frikkin GI JOE! I think they're crazy if they expect anything beyond US sales here. If they want to make an Action Force movie, make an Action Force movie, but leave GI Joe alone! *grump*

I'd say Bravo. The truth is, regardless of what he did before taking to the big screen, the man can actually act.

Not sure about the rest of it, though. I do agree that trying to push international sales of a G.I. Joe movie is probably putting the cart before the horse.

Mark Wahlberg is quite good and I'd be just fine with him playing Duke. I just don't have a lot of faith that this flick would pan out the way I would want it to. I guess I wouldn't have a problem with them trimming the more "kids toy line" aspects of the property but I'd definitely need the original Joes and Cobras in there with their personalities and backstories mostly intact. IMO you'd need at least the following characters to be true to the property:

Hawk
Duke
Snake Eyes
Scarlett
Stalker
Flint
Lady Jaye
Clutch
Rock n' Roll

Cobra Commander
Destro
Baroness
Storm Shadow
Dr. Mindbender
Zartan
Major Bludd
Zarana

My responce would be the same as the responce given by the nazis after they opened the ark of the covenant at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

In other words, a scream of horror as my body and spirit is torn asunder from the horrible blasphemous occurance created by touching such a sacred piece of 1980s American animation and remaking it into a worthless live-action movie.

And yes, this was the same responce I gave when the first TMNT the Movie was released.

How about Jason Stratham for Snake-Eye?

You forget Flagg, which I could see Tommy Lee Jones in that role.

Action Man is cooler than GI Joe anyway!

(and Mark Wahlberg aint a bad actor regardless)

It depends on whether they are keeping true to Snakes and not having him talk or show his face; if they do, then you might as well put some fantastic martial-artist under the mask for all it would matter acting-wise. I think Statham's charisma would be wasted as Snakes in that scenario. He'd be a good Flint if he could manage to drop his accent; if not, maybe they could bring in the little known Big Ben? Or maybe Ambush (I think he was British too).

Good call on Flagg though, I'd go for that.
