    Knock-Down

There's a "Knockback" in Races of Stone. It's not exactly what you're lookin for, but its still kinda cool. It lets you start bull rushes when you hit with power attack. The only catch is, you have to be large size or a Goliath to use it.

Do You Run Multiple Campaigns in the Same Setting?

Our group shares a home brew setting. Each Dm adds to the world in their own way and sometimes plays off what another has done. Sometimes the campaigns run different time lines, sometimes they're coexisting. It all helps build the world, and its something the players can remember easier since...

What percentage of your RPG time are you DMing?

Lately, I've been DMing our sessions. But there are 3 or 4 others who also run games, they've just not had time to get anything together. So for me, its about 20% of the time. I get tired of it to easily to DM more than that.

The Common Enemy: Do you prefer one common type of enemy or lots of different ones.

I like to have a common enemy. Or at least a theme. And it doesn't have to be just a single recurring group, there could be 2 or 3 groups or themes that keep showing up. Just so long as it isn't exclusively an army of clones. Give a few of those Orcs levels, make some spellcasters instead of...

Flowery descriptions at the game table

I like a middle ground between the original examples, leaning toward the more descriptive. Give enough information to understand the setting, highlighting the important parts. If the players mind comes up with a Greek temple or Gothic cathedral, either way is fine. But if a detail is important...

    Kitchen Sink Settings

Yep, that's pretty much our game. Just about any up to date WotC product is legal(and some old 3.0 stuff that wasn't updated), but always inform the DM - especially if it's from a more off-beat official source like Miniatures Handbook or somethin. Usually it's ok as is, occasionally it's...

    Is the Feeblemind spell fair?

Fair? Maybe, maybe not. But really I think of it more of a "ruin-a-player's-fun" spell. In our group, it's become one of those D&D nuklear weapons WotC talked about a while back. Nobody wants to touch it. I'd rather have my mage outright killed than hit with a feeblemind.

What percentage of your campaigns have good conclusions?

About half of ours have ended with a nice lil wrapup and all. Sadly, the other half just kinda stalled and remain in limbo. I'd rather just have em knowingly canceled prematurely than keep the character sheets fresh with a glimmer of hope that they'll get played again someday.

    Character Concepts

I've been itching to play a good swashbuckling character. It just sounds like it could be a fun time. But two things have kept me from it. First, I really dont like any combination of classes. Several have some good things, but lots of junk, and none of them mesh well. Very frustrating. The...

    Spear Specialization

I've got a current character focusing on the Greatspear. He's only 5th level at the moment, but here's what I've got and what I've planned for. Power attack and Cleave are of course useful. But so far, I've gotten excellent mileage out of Combat Reflexes and Stand Still(XPH). Using Stand...

    Staff Based Fighter Class

I also like the concept of a strong quick staff fighter, and like you, I've struggled to find a good way to build one. As a couple others have said, I think it works better as a PRC too, but here's my thoughts on what you've got anyway. Simply for the sake of maintaining the 2-weapon part of...

When to Run? Balancing Descretion with Heroism

I think its definately best to present a challenge that is obviously very very dangerous to the party. As others have stated, otherwise players don't know its deadly untill it's to late. But I think maybe the best thing to do in such encounters is to provide for multiple means of escape. Dont...

How do you like your adventures - focused or freeform?

Its great as a player to have options in game and the feel of your choices making or breaking your current plot/goals. But on the other hand, its really hard for the players to know what to do when the DM says "ok, go where you want, do what you want." I think players need some prodding of which...

    ninja, sudden strike and strategy

At 8th level you can take the Master Thrower PRC from Complete Warrior with the right selection of feats. Use its Sneaky Shot ability to make ranged attacks for Sudden Strike just about every time. If you stick with it for all 5 levels, you can pick up the Weak Spot ability which allows your...

Good level 1-3 adventure/module for a group of 12 year old noobs?

"A Dark And Stormy Night" on the Wzards site is a good short free one. Nice introduction to the basic dungeon crawl theme. Free is a big plus :p

    d20srd.org download?

I prefer the layout of the site Cthulhu's Librarian posted better than the one at 20srd.com. Unfortunately I've found it's often not up to date with Errata, where as d20srd is.

    Thoughts on Kalamar

And that's my only minor problem with the setting. It makes for awsome flavor and some great dynamics, but thats alot of dieties to keep track of. As others have pointed out, other settings may have similar numbers of dieties, but the Kalamar Dieties are basically all on equal ground. There are...

At what level do you start your campaigns?

I prefer about 3rd level. Mostly because the characters feel less fragile. They don't have a ton of HP, but I don't feel like they're 1 slice, stab, or bludgeon away from death either...baring a crit. I have no problem with player death unless its sensless. And often going down from 1 slice from...

Evasive Reflexes: what do you think about it?

I have no problem with the feat. I think it provides a good option. However, I think the Karmic Strike combo is flawed. In order to use the Karmic Strike, you have to actually take the attack of opportunity. You couldn't use the attack to step away. Technically correct ruling or not, I think...

    Aid another action in combat

Complete Adventurer (p. 96) suggests a +1 bonus for every 10 above the base DC check for characters with 5 ranks in the appropriate skill or BAB.
