Need help picking a system for my campaign!

I used BESM for one game, but although it worked well, my players got stuck on the Anime influence, which was rather irritating. In the end I've decided to start my own system for my own settings

[World Design] Implications of a longer day

Orange dwarf parent I take it? Err, you're going to have a twin world sort of setup, here. Things that evolved facing the planet are going to be looking at things differently than things that did not. Keep in mind the planet is going to have a magnitude in the -20 range - it's going to...

    GURPS or HERO?

If you can get over the Anime part of it, BESM is a much simpler system. It doesn't actually need to be anime, but that can be hard to get across to a group. People often buy GURPS for ideas rather than running anything with it. None of them specify XP for combat purposes, in fact I don't...

    Most powerful non-magical class combo

Had a VoP sorceress with Disjunction in a Gestalt game. Evil thing being, she was a sylph, so with Archmage had a caster level in the low 30's at level 24. Exalted Arcanist and Dracolexi for yet more spells. That doesn't begin to touch on how horrifically broken she was, she'd be balanced...

What To Do With the Warlock?

You entirely and completely missed his point. A barbarian with an adamantine greatsword and power attack has the same capability. Later on Monks do it with their fists, to. Bonus points for improved sunder and then they can do it to magical items with near impunity, as much as they want.

    Internet Romance: Dream or Reality?

Hmm, I've seen it work. I've usually seen it end in flames though. Often it's because of a bit of blindness on the part of one or (usually) both parties - not being honest about looks, about gender (!?) and personality conflicts that can come into being - most people are different on-line than...

    Throat Slit?

Throats are really quite tough. I'm not exactly suggesting that it not do damage, but the tissue guarding the throat and jugular is really quite resilient. Without any real momentum behind it the barber is more likely just to get blood all over and have a really pissed off (and if he's lucky...

Well, everything gets insane at higher levels, though. Just redo the scale so it takes longer.

Hide and Mv Silently skills are no more!

I'm doing something similar with my 2d10 reconstruction. Acrobatics, Athletics, Etiquette and some others replace a larger set of skills.

$120 Store Credit -- What would you buy?

One by one, I've been slowly converting my friends to Exalted. Eight now. Go ahead, do it, take the plunge. It is inevitable.

Mongoose Next License! Paranoia (not D20) (merged)

It's not d20, I'll buy it, and maybe extra copies for my friends. Remember: knowing the rules is treason, citizen.

How do you kick off a Campaign?

Had one campaign start in a Temple (we were all citizens of the city on the night it was attacked. A square mile or so area got compressed (as in, made to a hundred square feet or so then back again) leaving many collapsed areas and we were some of the temple's survivors. Another was - we were...

Seriously. Why *do* Clerics get to wear armour?

In games where the cleric really doesn't, or where the party is without a cleric and you have one as an adversary... It become apparent rather quickly. I know that what D&D campaigns I still play are by no means typical, but I don't care for typical games anymore (so I suppose that's that).

Seriously. Why *do* Clerics get to wear armour?

The 'balance' reason is that 'people don't want to play the healer role'. Which I think is a hogwash way to balance it myself. But that's just me.
