What is a character with a 6 INT, 6 CHA, and 8 WIS like?

He's almost certainly a half-orc. And one quite likely to die by Hold Person.

Point-buy or rolling? Your preference and why?

Point buy. Two reasons, for me: A). With point buy, you can always get (approximately) the character you want, as you have absolute control over your ability scores. B). Equal Power. All characters should, in my not - so - humble opinion, enter the game with the same "potential."...

I'll be looking forward for more storyhour goodness!

    Why is Animate Dead [Evil]?

Remember the fact that those who are raised as undead can't be resurrected while their bodies are out walking around? That's because, when you create a skeleton or zombie (or worse), you're binding the soul of the departed into the corpse, under your absolute control - and that's always an evil...

    Chaos vs Order

Eh. I think, personally, that Chaos and Order are terms that are just as useful - and scientifically accurate - as Good and Evil. In other words, the universe isn't going to back up any particular definition of either. If Chaos is a force of change, and Order one of stasis, Order is the...

Tactics for defeating a huge red dragon

First, an unfortunate warning - Summon Swarm is negated by damage reduction. It won't help versus the dragon. You'll have to use silence to keep it from casting. Next - The most important point about taking on the dragon. If you take it on, try to take it alone. Dragons are very nasty...

    Lesser Planar Binding and Charm/Dominate

Except that, if I'm not mistaken, casting at the critter is going to break the circle. If it makes the save, that's an oops.

    Con

Is there really any problem with the Spymaster, other than the flavor text? All things considered, flavor is much easier to change than mechanics, and if flavor's the only problem - you could always just change it.

    Balancing Polymorph?

One alternate version that I thought was a great idea has been brought up before on the forums. Here's a link to it: Polymorph Revisions It's an interesting take, in my opinion, and I think it reduces most of the exploits possible with the original.

    Atheism in DnD Campaigns

And if Bob found a way to grant spells to clerics? If the supernatural abilities are what make a god, the term "god" doesn't mean much - it's just a measure of power. Which brings us back to the "Do you believe in kings?" analogy. If there's something beyond the powers - granting spells to...

    Assasin of ______ (No Spells)

It's ... front-loaded. Heavily so. No real costs for entering it, and that first level gives quite a bit to any rogue into that kind of thing. I don't really know enough to say about the Death Attack specials, but they aren't obviously problematic - balance-wise. I don't care for the crit range...

Replacing the druid's animal companion ability with the Earth Domain: balanced?

I'm going to agree with those who think that the entire domain is too much - but, as druids don't use their Cha stat for much, I don't think trading Animal Friendship for Rebuking Earth Elementals and Turning Air Elementals would be much of a problem. This, of course, is dependent on just how...

Half-Celestials: Who plays one, and what are they *Really* worth?

That's just the Fly spell. Supernatural flight only differs in that it's faster and doesn't work in Anti-Magic Fields.

    Spell like ability

Some supernatural abilities are based off Charisma. The Succubus' Energy Drain is 10 + 1/2 HD + Cha, as is the Medusa's Petrifying Gaze. As far as I can tell, there aren't any stat requirements for Spell-Like abilities, though I wouldn't want to make an absolute statement.

A rogue and only a rogue...

I, personally, think the rule is stupid. Firstly, any character with so much as a single level of rogue qualifies - the rule is very poorly implemented. Secondly, the search and disable device skills are usually - dare I say nearly exclusively? - used for dealing with traps. If only rogues can...
