[D&D 4e] IG's "The Witchlight Strand"

Shayuri

First Post
Aridha watches the others as they array themselves, then takes a position ready to spring as well...though she feels a gnawing feeling of doubt as well. The orc remnants seem weak enough that they could just take the supplies without butchering them. But then, what if the orcs fight? Why wouldn't they, if they needed these supplies?

But they'd stolen them, and at great cost in blood and destruction. Letting them keep the spoils was unthinkable.

Leaderless and without most of their soldiers, the orcs were pathetic, and it felt bad to hurt them more. But Aridha had seen what happened when the orcs were strong...and it wasn't worth it. They'd made their choices. Now they'd have to deal with the consequences.

(ready to attack!)

Druthruss looks upon these more like vermin to be eradicated. In any case, watching Vatan and the others get into place he settles down to watch the fight commence with his new crossbow loaded. Whilst they continue to fight he will let them, when they seem to tire of each other or it looks like they are becoming disinterested in each other then he will fire his cross bow into their backs or such that they should not be able to see where it came from.

The bystanding orcs continue to cheer the fight on, but the combatants are clearly beginning to tire.

OOC: Moving through the trees is difficult terrain. While within a green or mostly green square a creature has concealment.

Weel Naxel, human artificer

Weel does his best not to fidget, though he keeps glaring at his decorated branch-rod as if it's pestering him about something.

OOC: Weel's initiative is +2. Not sure if you wanted us to roll or not? Weel's going to hold actions until one of the others attacks, since he's new to the group, but once they do, Will invoke Punishing Eye into J8. I think that should put all the orcs inside of the 3 square radius for nixing concealment / psychic damage

OOC: I'm not really keeping track of initiative any more since everyone kind of posts whenever anyway. Since you guys won the skill challenge, you'll all get to act first before the bad guys. I assumed that Druthruss would attack first, and then everyone else would chime in whenever they felt it was necessary.

Druthruss holds off for as long as possible in case the Lady Wolf is not in position but knowing that he is unlikely to see her anyway will make the assumption that everyone has got into position.

The fight dies down and one of the Orcs who has been laughing in that gutteral wheezing way of theirs seems to find the outcome particularly funny. Druthruss lifts up his crossbow and aims for the back of his neck. The new crossbow feels a little unusual in his hands but he never did much like the last one anyway. Although different, this one does seem a little better balanced with a neat kind of sight to it.

Thunk...

(Should have added CA +2 tohit but I guess this hits. Also, I am guessing its a d6+dex dam. If there is magic or other effects from this new crossbow then let me know.)

Druthruss will try to stay still / hide in leaves after the shot to prevent them seeing the direction it came from. A couple more shots like that will make this go a little easier.

[sblock=Aftershock Crossbow]
Your Aftershock Crossbow has an enhancement of +1, which adds +1 to attack rolls and damage rolls. Otherwise it is exactly the same as your other crossbow, unless you score a critical hit.

On a critical hit this weapon scores +1d6 damage per plus, and each enemy adjacent to the target of the critical hit is knocked prone.[/sblock]

You need to determine a target by coordinates, please. This will enable everyone to keep better track of who is attacking whom.

Weel Naxel, human artificer

As the bolt zings through the air, Weel turns to the rod in his left hand. He cocks his head to one side, listening, then smiles. "Oh, yes, you did find him." From the grass, a medium-sized rock rises.

"Welcome, Old Rueyov," Weel whispers with a bow. "I wondered: these fellows are very bad, and I think they might behave better under your stern gaze. What do you say?"

The rock hovers only a moment, then sweeps above the clearing, casting an eerie green glow over much of it, a glow which the enemies nearest to it begin to emit, as well.

Weel, meanwhile, puts his finger to his lips and does his best to be still.

[sblock=actions]Standard: Punishing Eye to J8:

Ranged 5
Keywords: Arcane, Conjuration, Implement, Psychic

Effect: You conjure an eye in a square within range. It lasts until the end of the encounter. Enemies within 3 squares of the eye do not benefit from concealment, and when an ally attacks an enemy within 3 squares of the eye and hits, that enemy takes psychic damage equal to your Int Modifier (+4). You can move the eye 3 squares as a move action.

Move: Stealth to hide / stay hidden? Not sure if a non-attack power undoes any previous stealth or not.

Stealth (1d20+2=13)[/sblock]

[sblock=resources]HP 33/33
Surges: 9/9
Daily powers used: Punishing Eye[/sblock]
