PHB3: Random stuff that doesn't merit a full post

Well it does not come up often, but:

If you multiclass or hybrid into Runepriest, you get the ability to use Rune of Mending, or use other Runic powers.

The ability to enter a rune-state and get the Rune of _____tion riders is a function of the Runic keyword, not of the a class feature, so a multiclassed runepriest could enter the runestate of Rune of Destruction. However, as he does not have the Rune Mastery class feature, he doesn't get the persistant runestate bonus that a normal Runepriest gets from his Rune Mastery.

The Rune Mastery classfeature, then, allows -other- non-Mastery runepriests to activate the Rune of Destruction mastery benefits without having Rune Mastery.

It's funny but not really overpowered at all. Not having a damage die really kills a power (especially a multi-hit power), comparable powers will be near or better in damage even after factoring in accuracy.

Well... it is Con+Con+Con DPR damage guaranteed...

So if you're con mod is at level 14 +6, that makes it an 18 DPR attack.

Contrast with your basic attack which, if you're using a one-handed hammer (assuming 50% hit rate), +4 weapon, +2 weapon focus, and IABoP,

.5(1d10 + 6 + 4 + 2 + 2) + .5(3)
.5(5.5+6+6+3)
.5(5.5+15)
.5(20.5)
10.25.

So... 18 DPR vs 10.25....

Not to mention the augment is an attack that deals .5X4X(con+cha)+.5X4Xcon
4Xcon + 2Xcha
which is probably about 34 DPR....

The Hammer Rhythm+Brutal Barrage combo fun was discussed when the preview came out: http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-4t...tleminds-ok-defenders-fantastic-strikers.html

The answer I got then was that, yes, the DPR is a bit high (and of course ridiculously consistent), but it's still low-to-mid striker level, nothing crazy. And while Str 14 is useful for weapon-based feats, I'm not really sure it's worth it for a Battlemind: it's 5 point-buy points into a stat that's not even tertiary for the class.

Str 14 isn't -that- hard to get into... when you can do mid striker level damage, consistantly, while using a shield as a defender, that's certainly viable.

Not to mention, Charisma-based Battleminds are the mobility based ones, which means that having your secondary pushed to the max isn't as necessary. And Battleminds don't have a basic attack-replacing power, so it's not a bad idea to have some strength to cover that base anyways if you're not wanting to pick up Melee Training.
