Grackle Granitetop

Grackle gibbers in worry and disgust, feeling like he might have to puke, but even so, he manages to gibber out some Gnomish words of power and blast the ghastly ghost with magical bolts of force, muttering "Go away, go away! Grackle no like!" He backs away after a few moments gibbering. He also gnashes out in rough Terran "Rocks smash that skull! Smash now!" The gnome-sized piles of rocks slide forward to pound at the skull with what amounts to arms on them, but apparently with little effect.

As the gnome retreats, he realizes something and says to the rest of the group "Umm, magic skull kinda remind Grackle of bone-golems, dunno what kinda magic will work on it....so smashy-smashy!"

[sblock=ooc]I guess the elementals will have pushed/carried the great sword, gem-tipped spear, tower shield, and spear over to the pile in front of Grackle.

Dang, I had an average chance of passing, but the dice weren't with Grackle this time...... A 10 total on my Fortitude save.
1d20+6=10
Took 1 Strength damage, 3 Dexterity damage, and 1 Constitution damage. Reduces my Strength to 7, Dexterity to 15, and Constitution to 15. :(
1d4=1, 1d4=3, 1d4=1

Got a 26 on the Knowledge (Arcana) check.
1d20+10=26

Grackle casts Magic Missile at the ghost, as it seems to weaken him with its ghastly presence, so he wants to make it go away as fast as he can. 20 damage.
5d4+5=20
His second turn or action or whatever is to cast Magic Missile again at the ghost, for 19 damage this time. Then he backs away, climbing up the wall with his Cloak of Arachnida to get out of sight if possible.
5d4+5=19

Small earth elementals move up and attack the skull. A 12 and 23 to-hit, for 12 damage each. I forgot to factor in the extra strength of Augment Summoning into the first damage rolls, but did factor it into the attack rolls. Subtract 4 from each elemental's attack and damage roll if the skull is really airborne, due to Earth Mastery, or add 1 if the skull is still on the ground/whatever.
1d20+7=12, 1d6+4=9, 1d20+7=23, 1d6+4=9
Second turn's attacks for the elementals were a 23 to-hit for 10 damage, and a 20 to-hit for 8 damage, before factoring in any modifiers from Earth Mastery.
1d20+7=23, 1d6+7=10, 1d20+7=20, 1d6+7=8

I have to dig through the thread to find Grackle's current status/spell slots.....I think I listed them sometime in the last month or two, but can't remember for sure........ The numbers and spells I have listed here and in my character-sheet file might not be up-to-date, since I can't remember if we rested since the last time I updated Grackle's status.
Active Effects: Mage Armor (9 hours), Shield (9 minutes), False Life - 10 (3 hours), Resist Energy - Acid 20 (cast once on everyone, 90 minutes).
Spell Slots Remaining: 6/6 0-level, 2/7 1st-level, 0/7 2nd-level, 4/7 3rd-level, 2/5 4th-level.[/sblock]

The earth elemental gnomlings have deposited several items of power, the great sword, a staff surmounted by a gem, a tower shield and a spear in the doorway within easy reach of most of you.

Ballista's resolve holds her steady as she is unshaken by the appearance of the ghost. The soft song of inspiration comes pouring from the lips of the compact bard on the ceiling as her dark eyes flash bright to embolden the epic ballad. Then she levels the massive relic bow at the spirit upside down unleashing a trio of javelin sized arrows. Two of the arrows flash through the ghost as if it weren't even there, but the third sticks as if hitting a more mundane foe.

"by all that is holy?! What is this? a ghost and a floating skull!", exclaims Harrison as he steps forward.

Logan stands boldy and calls on Pelor's aid to drive away the foul ghostly figure. "By the mighty flame of Pelor, I abjure thee! Get thee back to thy grave foul apparition!" The ghost falls back to cower above the stone bier daunted by Pelor's glory and Logan's faith.

Zorn is ready for the ghost like apparition. "The skull is a type of Golem. It will be immune to many spells." he tells the rest of the group.

"I'll try to trap the thing inside the room."
The webs do little to hinder either the skull or the ghost.

Garagos resists the fearsome sight of the ghost. (no action?)

The elementals leap to the attack and their valiant efforts come so very close, but they do not manage to strike the skull even buoyed by Ballista's inspiration. His magical missiles however, prove much more effective. With a final howl of rage despair and pain the ghost vanishes.

Jillian hesitates.

The skull moves forward sedately, rictus grin flickering with reflected light. It rotates trying to focus its gaze on Grackle, but he scurries up the wall and breaks line of sight with Admiral hanging on for dear life. The skull instead fixes its gaze on Zorn. (DC23 Fort save please).

are the elementals actually on line 11 instead of line 9?, if so, Harrison may be advancing to the ghost really soon.

Ballista, HP48/48, AC 26/29vRanged(FF19/24vR-T15/20vR) F5 R13 W6

With the ghost fled through the ceiling, Ballista launches another trio of arrows at the tiny, bobbing skull. Only the first finds it's mark spinning the skull out of it's original position causing the other shots to fly wide of the mark.[sblock=combat block]
Free: Sustain IC
Swift:

Full Action: Full Attack (1d20+14=28, 1d20+14=21, 1d20+9=13), Damage (2d6+1d6+5=16)[/sblock]
OOC - The dice are getting meaner in their old age.

GM: Sorry, will get a fresh map up later this afternoon. Must have posted before I saved it. FYI the ghost is in fact destroyed rather than fled.
